There is something about blue, abalone, and quilt that really works.

One of the Chinery Guitars (I believe it was the D'Leco) stayed very blue. It wasnt stained it was painted.
If you are not an acoustic player and you want a Blue Guitar thats going to stay Blue forever, Thats the way to go. Put 57 Classic in it and you are set.

Thanks for loving my baby for over 4years!
You owned it 3x longer than I did. And you were gracious enough to always call it “your guitar”.
And thanks for sending “our guitar” back to me!

There are clear coats that won’t yellow and as such will not make the blue appear to green. It’s the yellow+blue that make us see green.

Bodies complete - next the neck dovetails

The beginning of some great necks. Note the Brazilian rosewood

-
I gather that the tailpiece accents and bridge on that Special will be Brazilian rosewood as well? That might be a superb choice. Hmmmm......

Happy Birthday Mark Campellone ! 8/29 was a good day for archtop guitar lovers.
-
Brazilian Rosewood?! Who has Brazilian Rosewood anymore? It looks truly rich!
-
Happy birthday, Mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy your day,

Da*n. Do you mean if I’d have been born 8 days earlier I’d have been born a luthier? Oh wait, we’re nearly the same age too. But there’s only one Campellone! Happy birthday MC!

If I couldn't afford a Cameo, I would ask Mark to make my guitar a Natural with bound F-Holes with Macassar headstock, fretboard (no inlays), pickguard, Bridge and Tailpiece applique'. That was an extraordinary guitar.
Great stuff.
Happy Birthday Mark!

First off, thanks to all for the birthday wishes - and for those interested in birthday trivia, 8/29 is also the birth date of Charlie Parker and Michael Jackson : ) - and on the more morbid side, this date also commemorates the beheading of John the Baptist

Kind of interesting story behind that Brazilian Rosewood - the guy that ordered that guitar (and supplied the wood) is a Brazilian living in the USA - his family (in Brazil) has been buying old farmhouse properties there - apparently, Brazilian Rosewood was used in the construction of these old farmhouses (!) and his family is in the business of harvesting the wood for export. My customer tells me it took 13 years to acquire CITES certification so that he could legally export the wood.

Yes, the bridge and tailpiece applique will also be made from Brazilian Rosewood (great minds think alike - lol)

So you knew it was the Feast of St John The Baptist! I am impressed Mark, possibly you are Roman Catholic and practicing the faith. The deacon is impressed beyond guitars!

In Florence, Italy, St. John the Baptist ( city patron) is celebrated on 24th June. Fantastic fireworks in his honour on that day, every year.

Bro, this is THE guitar. Right here.
