oh, is it tiresome cliche week again? in that case i see your homeless-but-secretly-rich person and raise with a child-molesting-cleric.

I did not say they were secretly rich but I can see in your comments you are pretty much a troll. In my mind worthless on the forum for a comment like that. Mine was an a comment on a situation not directed to anyone. Yours clearly is directed at someone based on the comment..............They should censor you for awhile for sure.

yes, you did. you insinuated that a homeless person who begs for food or shelter might secretly be making a fortune each day.

The Deacon gave an example of an unethical person using the appearance of homelessness to con people into giving him money. That example was given to prove that everything is situational. Your response was a mean spirited attack on a fellow forum member. You should apologize. That would be the ethical thing to do.

yes, he gave an example of an unethical person and chose a homeless person. he could have used any another example. i also gave an example of an unethical person. should i have added an anecdote as well? you may have missed that i find both mine and his example "a tiresome cliche". he otoh thinks his example is fine and i should be banned ;=)

As I read these comments, I hear a lot of codependent behavior. When you put your nose where it doesn't belong, you can experience some very unexpected behavior even though you have the very best intentions. I really think people are responsible for their own actions, there is no reason in this day and age not to be educated on market values. In my opinion if you are savvy enough to create a e-bay auction, you absolutely are savvy enough to do some research on market values. If it's undervalued there is either something more to it, or you do not care.

Codependency on a jazz forum? Gold star observation! Most here are clueless about Codependency and how their lives are effected by it.

    Things that are true:

    1. There are poor people who take advantage of charity. Any of us who have worked in organizations that serve the poor can tell you that. We can also tell you that they are the minority by far. This is not just a subjective observation - feel free to research the data.
    2. There are people who use confirmation bias, consciously or not, to excuse their own lazy amorality. Some of those people may even have infiltrated the jazz guitar community! But I don't think Deacon is among them.
    3. There is a vast literature describing the overlap between moral reactions and voting preferences. I have avoided mentioning it in this thread for reasons that should now be obvious. Feel free to research the data!

    Most importantly:

    4. This is a guitar buying thread that exists to distract me from my real world responsibilities. Don't get it twisted!
