The following are the only two I have.
Vox VX50 GTV
Vox MVX150 C1
The first of these is very light and portable, with enough volume for small jams or rehearsals (I think the tone suffers at high volume, though).
The second sounds good at all volumes, and is loud but heavy.
-
I have 3:
- Fender Blues Junior I had forever – I think it is version 2 Made in Mexico – it mostly stays at home in my music room and is used for practice and home recording
- Fender Pro junior – recently aquired, recent Version 4 that I use for gigs and recordings. I had a conversation with forum member Alter a while ago. He told me that he prefers the tone of the Pro jr. over the Blues. But only after playing one at a jam on stage volume I was convinced and had to have one. It needs to be at volume to sound right.
- Fender Champion 600 that is decoration in my music room. I used it for theater gigs without drums a while ago, though.
For now I'm happy with that range. I sold my vibrolux because it was always more than I needed. I like to keep stage volume low – save the remains of my hearing – and let the tone engineers lift my volume in the PA.

1) Two Rock Studio Pro 35 combo
2) Kemper lunchbox & Kemper Player
3) About to get a Henriksen Bud TEN
(In the past I used to have several more amps ... often had 2 Carr's, plus a head or two w/ cab or two ... but I thinned the herd last year.)
-
I currently own five guitar amps, all more or less for different uses.
Henriksen Blu Six, for use at home in my small studio and for playing out at venues with no backlines.
Fishman Loudbox Mini, set up in the living room with a piano and acoustic for jamming with guests.
Fender Vibro Champ, 1960s BF to keep the tube vibe alive, but just on occasion with a 70s archtop.
Silvertone 1960s amp-in-case with the Silvertone guitar, used once in a while primarily for quirkyness.
Lekato micro amp, plugging direct into my travel guitar w/ clean, OD and reverb channels used on trips.
Truth be told, I really only “need” the Henriksen, which serves most practical purposes; others for fun.
Recently sold a Gibson Falcon, a Roland Blues Cube, and a Yamaha practice amp that were redundant.
I don’t foresee any other new amp purchases, but one never knows!

I just added another amp the other day to the list. Its a mint condition, 100% original 1966 Fender Bassman Piggyback 2x12 AB165 with 2 original Jensen C12NAs in it. I'm going to keep it as original, but am changing the filter caps out this weekend.
I'm addicted to vintage amps, especially Fenders.
-
Six...and I think that's the limit for me. My tube amps give me everything I could ask for.
* Reeves Custom 50 head w/2x12 cab
* Louis Electric Columbia Reverb
* Carr Telstar
* Two Rock Vintage Deluxe 40W head w/1x15 cab
* Bartel Starwood
* Fishman LoudboxLast edited by joebloggs13; 09-20-2025 at 04:14 AM.

One of the highlights of my gear buying life was going through the basement storeroom at 8th Street Music when it was on 8th Street and then on Arch Street here in Philly. They’ve been my main dealer since 1960, and I became friends with the owners from the time I was in high school. At least once every year or two, I got to look through the vast piles of NOS stuff and take my pick.
One of my biggest scores was a new in box BF Bassman 50 head that I found there sometime in the late ‘80s. All the NOS stuff was tagged with its original prices, and they were so happy to clear out stuff nobody wanted any more that I was charged the original price less their usual discount. I also got an unloaded used 2x12 Bassman cab for $75, for which I already had a pair of decent speakers. That was a fantastic jazz amp, although I sold the 2x12 for a decent profit and used the head with my 1x12 Boogie Thiele cab once the novelty of a huge 2x12 wore off.
There was room to keep the head in our apartment, but it went (along with all of my big stuff from Boogie to Twins) when we downsized from the house. Nevershouldhavesoldit !

to many to list my latest couple is the Jules sweet sue and a. ethos clean fusion deluxe
but I got say the amp Jules make are just freakin amazing.

Guitar amps:
Vox MVX150C1
Vox VX50 GTV
Bass amps:
Orange Terror
TC Electronics BAM 200
Roland micro cube bass RX
...plus OBC 112 cab.
The MVX gets used unless it's too difficult to carry it; I used the VX50 for a recent gig due to lightness and it was loud enough with drums, 2x percussionists, 3x horns and bass (no PA). I should clarify that I'm not good at guitar and don't get many gigs.
The BAM 200 is used for all double bass work unless battery power is required (Roland). The Terror bass is for bass guitar.

2. AER Alpha Plus. Crazy good. Yamaha THR. Light as a feather but not as good.
-
2 so far … Yamaha THRII and AER ALPHA + . Both are good enough to me. The second being by far the best. I like earing the guitar more than the amplifier if it does make sense. EQ at noon. A touch of reverb. A bit of gain to warm things up. THR on flat mode. Considering a Little Jazz or a Bud as my next purchase. I do enjoy a lot those small and easy going solid state light boxes, clean sounding and hum free.

None.

I have 3 amps. A Henriksend Jazz 112ER I got about 11 years ago, a Henriksen Blu 6 and a Roland Blues Cube Hot 30. My student and friend of 20 years liked the Blues Cube more than the Henriksens. It has something called Tube Logic that he said makes it respond like a tube amp. I don't know as I never had a tube amp in recent times. He always got a fat sound out of it with his ES175. It's a very different tone from the Henriksens. I've played around with the tone controls and can get an acceptable vintage tone out of it, depending on my ears that day.
I am having a GAS attack about getting a real tube amp. I would like the clean vintage sound of early 50's players like Barry Galbraith, Oscar Moore, Kenny Burrell and Johnny Smith. Studio recordings can be deceptive but there is such a tremendous expansive tone compared to most of what I hear now. I was looking at the Vinttage 47 EH185 but am concerned it may be more of a Charlie Christian sound with distortion, although I have heard it very clean in demos by Chris Whiteman, Jonathan Stout and Pasquale Grasso. I have read about the Sequel Tribute amp but it is a little pricy with a 3 month waiting list. Can anyone recommend a new amplifier with vintage tone simlar to a GA-50? Thanks in advance.
