i also heard some nice enough sounds in that clip, but nothing that couldn't have been done cheaper or smaller. i guess tubes and build quality and boutiqueiness must be part of the appeal.

I’m taking about going to Scandinavia! Seriously pricey.

I don’t think the speakers are overpriced for what they are. They would probably be cheaper for us if the FX was different though.

Oh you mean the Milkman. Yeah. I’ll reserve judgement till I hear it in the room.
But I think you could get the same sound with a fly rig and a power amp pedal and have change, and a delay and a drive sound extra!

I hear the Minnesota weather is nice in the summer, sometimes both weeks of it.

me too! i always get gun shy when i'm in the neighborhood (europe). i came pretty close to pulling the trigger on a cheap flight this spring (lax to the capitals of sweden, denmark and norway) but then i thought about how pricey it would be just to stay there, and be there and so forth. as such, i've never gotten closer than amsterdam or london (in terms of prices) or berlin (in terms of proximity).

sucks. i do love me some bergman, and the places seem beautiful, but i need to stretch the little money i can scrape up, and i can get three weeks somewhere cheaper for every few days in scandinavia. i met a guy once who was living in helsinki (as a foreigner) and he flat out told me to never go. it's just too expensive.

IF it`s got something special through the tube voltage mojo well then it just might be an inspiring expressive platform.
I love the unpredictable inter-reaction of pick/string/tube/speaker and room that can make certain notes reach out and grab you.
I was in love with my 1960 Brown Super until my #1 went from a Filtertron gtr to a HB and the amp couldn`t make the switch with me.Of course its a fine line between that and flat out harsh or buzzy/fuzzy/farty notes. I`ve been through the Demeter Mighty Mini, Acoustic Image Clarus, Quilter 101 and some heavier tube stuff trying to capture it all.
I don`t like the fact that it`s on the floor with those exposed knobs ... I`m a road warrior and would worry about stage, storage and transport.
ALSO .... 50w at 8ohms ...hmmmmm?. How loud before it starts to cave in and not be a clean amp with a drummer?
100w at 4ohms sounds more like it ....but you got to play it to know.
Also ... it`s not just how it sounds when you are trying to capture a tube sound ...its how it reacts.
Kudos for trying ...would love to play one.

$699 and you still need a cab. What does that weigh?
I think a Quilter or a Blues Cube would be viable alternatives.
But I would still probably go for a Princeton for that price point.
I can find $900cdn used Princetons here which is $700 usd

Princeton weighs a lot more than this and a TOOB

thought the amp sim sounded terrible and it would have been nice if it had a foot switch to turn it off. that aside, still pretty interesting. the gain wasn't really my thing, though. hopefully, better demos are more convincing.

Just bumping this thread as NAMM is taking place this week.

I see that Milkman Sound have this week launched 'The Amp' in a a 12" combo format. 50 watts. Reverb and trem. Cab simulation on the XLR output. Speaker mute for silent stages. weight 22 pounds. $1299 USD.

    https://milkmansound.com/collections/amplifiers/products/the-amp-12-combo

That should be of interest to those looking looking for a lightweight 12" combo with a valve preamp section.

They're also releasing the tremolo and reverb section of The Amp pedal as a separate effects pedal.

I was speaking to a salesman at Andertons (who've gone quiet recently on 'the amp' ) and he said they'd had many of the ones sold in the UK (230v) shipped back to Milkman for mods, as apparently the higher voltages made the reverb very noisy. Deterred me somewhat from trying it till I know its sorted.

Anyone tried one of these yet? They seems to be selling like hotcakes yet there appears to be very few reviews of them.

TBH I'm not hearing much that I couldn't get with a FlyRig and a power amp

Minnesota's nice. I came here to go to college and never lived in Illinois again (with its corrupt, bankrupt 3rd world government). It'll be a balmy -25F in a few days' time. Keeps the riffraff away.

I’m curious if anyone has had any chance to try one of these. The few retailers who had them listed on their websites up here never got stock and have now pulled them from the web. I’m interested in the possibility of the combo.

Something similar from Vanflet: The Station1 It's a bit more of an affordable option for those in Europe.

Mmmmmh, those Vanflet demos are pretty cr*p though. Clean - ah that just means sort-of funky chords, Lead - ah that means average dirty stuff. I'm unimpressed, plus it doesn't have the 'across the pond' coolness of Milkman....! -and no demo of trem and 'verb'. No cigar.
Come on Milkman - get it sorted!

I mailed Tim at Milkman asking him to clarify the situation for me. He replied within 2 hours saying yes, there had been a problem, but now with the latest version all resolved. Andertons got theirs back and all sold. He then mentioned they are 'finishing up the production run this month' and Andertons have some on order and suggested I contact them, if I want one.
