the gk mb200 is a bass amp..the eq controls are voiced for bass..not saying it doesn't sound fine with guitar...especially classic clean jazz guitar...but the milkman is a different item...very guitar/pedal steel specific designed...with hi voltage 12ax7 tube, guitar eq, trem and digi verb

    cheers

Yes, of course I know it's sold as a bass head, but it sounds better with a guitar than any head I've tried, or at least close. Whether I prefer it or my AI Clarus depends on the day and/or the phase of the moon. Most days it's the MB200.

yes..i love it as a bass head...super small, and with efficient bass speaker/cab, pretty powerfully loud...

but for guitars i like some tube action...and thats what milkman is goin for..inc using an actual tube! (& run at high voltage no less) hah...imagine!! haha

    cheers

ps- played thru a lot worse...i could make mb200 work for me guitar wise too....compressor pedal work wonders to get a bit of tube push/pull..that's what them pedal steel guys do...and nobody knows loud but clean (yet throaty) better than they do!!!

but they also love the milkman

Wow! That thing sounds SO good. $700 bucks seems high but when thinking about it, it’s a pretty inexpensive way to get a Milkman amp. I’m very tempted! :/

This is what stops me whenever I consider one of these tiny amps. I'd still have to lug a speaker cabinet, which completely negates the weight factor. My Acoustic isn't any heavier than most speaker cabs I've lifted, so there's no real weight savings, plus I'd have another doodad to try to cram into my music backpack.

That and I don't think it makes a lot of sense to have an amp with small knobs down on the floor. Different strokes for different folks and all that, but I think a combo with front facing knobs you can see and which is either tall enough to be reachable while standing, or can be put on a chair is the ideal form factor. I agree that the weight of a good combo is a problem worth addressing, but at least for my uses, this is not the solution I'd look to (I've been very pleasantly surprised by small/light modelling combos).

I'm interested in the TOOB, but I don't think they're selling them here yet.

My main amp - the Acoustic - weighs not too much more than a speaker cab. It weighs about the same as my Mesa Theile cab.

My Dr Z. (tubes) weighs a friggin' ton. One of the best sounding amps I've ever heard, but definitely not back-friendly.

No doubt, class D solves the weight problem for amps, and the idea of a real tube front pre-amp in combination with one makes sense. But I can't see myself squatting and squinting to turn the knobs on a pedal(ish)-sized one. Hence my comment about form factor.

Go during the winter and you can see some of the best junior hockey in the world. Patrick Laine at 19 years old would have been incredible to watch.

Got it. Trees, ice, and TOOBs.

Reminds me of when a friend of mine took a trip to Israel. When she got back, I asked her how it was and she said, "Hot and beige."

And Finland is one of the few places I’ve been in Europe where you land at the capital city airport and as you come in all you see is forest stretching away.

    They have lakes too.

There are so many places I'd love to see, but time and money considerations dictate that it's unlikely I'll get to all of them.

I was in London a bunch of years ago, and as I recall that place wasn't exactly easy on the wallet, either. (Had a great time, though).

You may be aware that there are a lot of people of Scandanavian descent in the upper midwest US. Particularly in Minnesota. The joke is that they landed here, and trekked across half the continent until they found a place that was just as cold and miserable as the one they'd left.

Minnesota has lakes too. Very nice, I hear. In the summer.
