Having never owned one, I always thought the red/gold combo looked very REGAL. Almost any color is better than natural

My Birdie is a Hutchins and it's great. Had a wine red Birdie back in 2003 (??) maybe I should have spent more time with her...

That fiddleback curly maple looks good enough for a Natural. I see a mineral line running down the length of the back. That explains the Wine Red. Still, it is a very nice classy finish with the goldplated parts and amber bonnet knobs.

    Comes with the COA, too.

Beautiful, 2bop. Congrats are in order.

A natural mineral pocket found in wood that reveals itself as a darkened area that varies in length and width. That wood is most often avoided on Natural finish guitars, but I've seen it on two blonde Heritages, and one blonde Gibson.

You need to talk to Vinny, and stay off of Craigslist. $7500 for a new Super 400 is better than $11.5k in any language

Would this be an example of a mineral line? Peerless Monarch...

You're joking right? On a laminated guitar?

You'll commonly find mineral streaking on sunburst guitars, because the spruce is purest on the natural finishes

Then fate was kind to both of us Congrats on the Wes.

    The Tal is a keeper.

Mineral streaks are dark lines in the grain, they can be short or a few inches long and are very narrow. They look like they could be dark worm holes through the wood.

This lemon-burst Les Paul has mineral streaks on the bass side, they add character to a plain top.

Here's some mineral streaks w/ flame maple on a HJS.

No way. You ended up with the mint 2010 TF Sunburst for less than $2900?!

Yep, but the seller wasn't sure if it was a 2003 or a 2010. I noticed the "Art & Historic" case and assumed it was a 2003, but it's a 2002 with a 2nd label signed by James Hutchins.

I was the only bidder for a few days and couldn't believe it was going to close for the opening bid. With eBay bucks earned and using a cash back card the shipped amount to me is just under $2,800. I've regretted not buying a Tal a couple years ago when they were selling for this much, finally found the right one.

You scored brother! Now I'm happy I didn't bid, as I was prepared to go as high as $3300 for that Sunburst. It amazes me how often Hutchins signed guitars don't get mentioned in a sellers ad copy. Most sellers play that sticker up with mentions rather than not mention it at all. Enjoy that TF, she's marvelous!

btw, I communicated with that seller via ebay email telling him per the serial number it was a 2002. He insisted Gibson serial numbers didn't apply to TF's. I didn't argue with him, for at that price I knew at minimum the guitar was an '02 model. I couldn't be happier you got it! Congrats!

Congratulations for this purchase! I'm personnally waiting for a similar guitar, already purchased. It should come in several months. I would have bought a red one also if i had not already a red guitar in my collection. I'm looking forward to hear your comments!! I wish you to enjoy it endlessly in a happy long life!
