Hope you've got really long arms! That 18" lower bout would get to know your armpit and right shoulder really well.
This is why people buy houses. So they can sell them for cash when they find the guitar they really fall for.

OMG! That's a super guitar--no pun intended. Nice, chunky neck, too--specs are 0.86" at nut, 1.12" at 12th fret. Again, super! The engraving reminds me of Maudie Moore's work.

That's a desert island guitar--as long as the island has electric power.

Here is a Maudie Moore engraved tailpiece:

He is right. Most guys, even a big guy like me, find the 18 inch deep body too much.
    it's a lovely piece.

I tried out a Super 400 a few weeks ago and did fine with it on my left leg ......

I usually play with a strap, even sitting down ..

So I'm ready to add one to my stable .... just need to do a big sell off ....

I finally reinstalled the factory pups in my CR8 and I am eyeing my other LPs and PRSi to see which ones I'm ready to let go .... so I hope to begin the sell off soon

18" is just right. And that engraved tailpiece is spectacular.

I learned classical guitar first. Guitar body size has never mattered unless it is too small. Les Paul's are tough to play with classical technique.

IIRC a coworker of mine tried out a Stroup guitar or some similar cheap maker ... he had to send it back due to crappy workmanship

Then again this is almost free .... and only a few hours drive from me ... assuming the guitar is in Prescott, AZ

    Hmmmm

What does gralify this guitar for you? Ist it the single set pub configuration in combination with blonde and a more ornamented tailpiece? Just curious :-)

Nice guitar, but "retail" for a "used" guitar? C'mon man!

I bet they'll wiggle a little ... but this could also be NOS .. so maybe not so much wiggle left

Well here I am with cash but at my size that would make me look like a Mexican mariachi member :-)

Hang on... they don't complain about those giagantic gits!

surely my forum bud you're not suggesting Gibson's are commonly sold at or near "retail." No wonder some of us only buy used. But it's a rare guitar...I get it...aka fishing expedition for a buyer willing to pay a max price because of its rarity. I'd rather own 3 SE's and pocket the $2k left over

There are very few single pickup 400s.

    LOL

Gibson probably charged someone extra for not having the bridge pickup ....

We've seen several archtops that were listed as used over the last year ... but they were new

By listing them as used they can scootch around Gibson's rules for minimum advertised price ... at least that is what my local dealer told me when they had some of their new Gibson's listed as used

Who knows what's up with this one

Used Super 400 prices are all over the place and they don't make sense .... they are asking over 10K for the one I played at Rainbow and it is black with a Bigsby ... a double whammy in my book

there's a few below 7K or 8K that could tempt me to go for the Gibson logo ...

but paying full price does seem nuts ... and an SE starts looking really nice especially one that's has the extra 3/8 inch depth

That is one sweet guitar! This is not about "getting a deal" or price, it's about buying something special for yourself if you can afford it! Start selling!!

I'm a Super 400 fanatic too, but my dream Super 4 is a Florentine Cutaway. I don't feel 18" guitars are too big or uncomfortable at all....

It is the single neck pup configuration as Wes Montgomery would have got it if he played a Super 400CES. I didn't even notice that the tailpiece was heavily engraved until you all pointed it out. I thought it glinted kinda funny in the light...
