I had a 335 for years but I have large hands, so for me I really am able to get around much better on the Ibanez guitars. I have had a nice semi hollow body for about 15 years and recently picked up an archtop with the GB pickups. Get that 335 tone with no problem out of the semi and a more traditional out of the archtop. Works for me as this is my job as a session player and hope to be touring again soon guy!

Speaking Pat Metheny today on the George Benson worldwide fan page on Facebook I saw this quote from Pat Metheny

In this article, Metheny describes his Ibanez like this:

But Ibanez guitars are a lot like Paiste cymbals in that they don’t have much personality, but every one is exactly the same. I could go to a music store right now, pick up one of those Ibanezes, and walk onto the bandstand and play a gig. And I like the neutrality of those guitars, because you get out what you put in. Very documentary-like.

I own a JP-20, the Joe Pass archtop.
Like most people I did find the sound a bit thin and harsh. So recently, I had a Benedetto A6 pickup installed... wow, what a difference.

Yeah .. I've always found that quote absolutely spot on!

Also I have an A6 in my PM100 (Installed by a previous owner). I have no idea how it sounded with the Super58, but man .... It sure sounds sweet with that A6. Old school jazz goodness.

The best Ibanez jazz box for me would
be the production version of either of Pats prototypes

The old single pu fg100 with the fancy
    neck ....

    or even better
and the recent CC pickup guitar modelled after the Slaman metheny

doesnt look like they’ll produce either of
    these unfortunately

    I like Pat’s ideas and aesthetic ....

I agree with Pat on the personality thing
(I play a down scale Ibanez jazz box af120

A jp20 with 24.75” scale and the pickup in the right place would be an incredible
    jazz guitar ....

I can vouch for that statement, I was a at a clinic he did in NJ in 1989, and I remember hearing a student asking him about his JP20 model; he told the student "why don't you get a 175 instead? That's all you need". In addition, a friend of mine who took some lessons from Joe, told me he hated that guitar (JP20) after asking him about it... Although Joe could make a 2 string Ukelele sound like a Benedetto..
