Hey guys,
Hope everyone is doing well, and enjoying their Sunday. So, because I've been playing a lot of acoustic guitar, I'm in the market for a relatively inexpensive clip on tuner. Last night I played an open mic and my low E was crazy out of tune the whole song!
Any suggestions for a clip on tuner?
Thanks!
Sam

I like the micro clip-ons. Planet Waves makes a good one.

I've tried a few and like the Intellitouch the most for both electric and acoustic guitars.

Planet waves. Also Snark- really accurate and not expensive

I have one the cheap fenders from a couple years ago, a Peterson stroboclip clip and a couple of snarks. The reason I have two snarks is because I bought one and liked it enough to buy a second one for the workshop. They are not as accurate as a strobe clip but they are also 10 bucks versus 70 for the Peterson. I would very happily buy another snark if one of mine died or was stolen

I have a Fender and an Intellitouch. The mini-clips are less obtrusive looking, but they are more easily lost.

I've had a couple. They seem accurate but tend to break. I would pay extra for a sturdier one, what which one is that?

Snark for me.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I had an intellitouch, but the part where the tuner attaches to the clip broke.

And I don't think the Intellitouch works without the clip

The micro tuners are designed to be left on the guitar - I like those but you have to buy one for each guitar.. I swap out the larger mini tuners - those work great where you want to use one tuner for multiple guitars. Which do you prefer - left on or tune/remove?

I lost my second Intellitouch so I just move the one around, or just leave it in my practice area and clip it on whatever I've playing at the time. I never thought of them as designed to be left on, since I would take them off when putting a guitar in it case or bag.

My snark works great. This websites ability to post my Picts at the correct angle? Not so much.

Can't believe we ain't done this one before! These things are like the internet of tuning. I remember using a tuning fork!!!!!

I have a fishman ft.1 that I have used for years. It has quite a few features that I dont use like flat (4) and pitch changes and modes like chrono, guitar, bass, ukule. It can be used as as clip or a mic. Good stuff.

I use Korgs and Snarks. Keep the batteries fresh.

I use the one designed by Ned Steinberger. Small, unobtrusive, easy to read and accurate enough. The newest version is even smaller than the old ones.

Wow...yeah, that's a completely different model than what I've seen? Looks a little more substantial. Are they the same price as the normal breakable snarks?

I usually have half a dozen snarks around the house - I misplace them all the time and I give them away. They are really inexpensive and pretty accurate - I like the look of that little under the headstock snark - What is that, son of snark? - I haven't bought any again yet but that might be the next half dozen. I think I was getting them for like $7 a piece with free shipping (feebay or somesuch).

I bought a posh peterson clip on tuner and it's average at best.
I tend to use a free app on my phone and my ear.

The Planet Waves PW-CT-12TP NS Micro Tune is designed to be left on the guitar so someone somewhere in the industry has designed one with materials that are unlikely to mar the finish.
