I don't like leaving any tuner on my guitars. ..finish issues. Also, it looks funky.

I am need of a new clip on tuner as well and I like the looks of those Planet Waves ones. I find the Snarks too fragile.
-
My snark is anything but fragile. Never had a problem with it. Never had a battery issue. It goes on when I gig and comes off before embarking its case. I plane on getting one for each case. Small and indescreet. I'm sure there are others that are great but with only one button it meets my simplicity standard.
-
Yeah but that one's a different model than others are talking about probably . Looks different from any snark I've seen. Is it in the same $10 price range?

Snarks are cheap and work well for me.

Yeah. Those are actually a perfect example of modern designed to fail technology. I think those things are basically designed to break. They're so stinking cheap , you'll always go back and buy another one. Priced perfectly for that.

Yuck. Yeah. I avoided those like the flu. When I saw the small cube snarks I picked it up quick. Perfect size. It's clled 'Son of Snark'. It says $39 dollars but I didn't pay that much. I don't remebr how much but it wasn't even close to that. I'm too cheap.
-
We used to sell them and they'd always break at the little ball joint with pretty mild use. Ironic, because it's obviously a design feature that's supposed to keep it from catastrophically breaking(it just pops loose instead) I think they're a little improved since back then. I haven't yet broken the one I have now after several months, but the rubber pad is shite. There are some more options for a few bucks more that I've used with my uke group people which have been just as good bit more durable. I'd have to look at the brand.
-
I actually have 3 of those pictured Snarks and have owned them for what seems like 2-3 years. None of them have broken and I've had no problems with them at all, but I agree they are cheap. There was a deal I got 2 of them from where they were $10 or less each shipped IIRC.

I've had many and I break them with apparent ease, who knows, maybe that's part of the design strategy, so then you'll have to buy another.
I've never been convinced they look that good stuck on the end of a guitar either.
-
Yea man, agreed, I hate how they look on the guitar. Because of that I usually take mine off after tuning up and not leave it on the whole time.

I was going to ask you about this, docbop, because I know you used a Snark but now prefer the Intellitouch. I have a Snark and it hasn't been a problem so far, so I'm not about to throw it out, but should it "die young" as yours did, I may opt for the Intellitouch.

Clip-on tuners are quick, convenient, and close... but if I have the time and opportunity I always prefer the Cleartune app on my phone. More precise.

Am I the only one who had the little rubber tread in the snark come loose almost immediately?
-
They are inexpensive enough to experiment with. I like the clip-on tuners so much more handy than plugging into a tuner all the time.

pile of snarks here.

Another vote for the Snark. Best $20 you will ever spend.

Snarks break. I use the D'addario. Very small, inconspicuous, works well.
-
strings and beyond sell the basic one for 10 bucks and even the son of Snark is only 15.
