I've owned half a dozen X-170's. Just in case anyone is considering 2b's X-180, it's a far cry from a X-170... But Jack and I could never do business...he returns ev'thing!

77-Guitars/Deviser or Eichii? They are not one and the same. Eichii is just the US importer.

77-Guitars is a small shop. The Japanese sales rep. whom I deal with is very nice.

I think a player of Metheny's stature playing a particular guitar as his main instrument for 20-25 years counts for quite a bit more than a typical glossy photo "endorsement" one sees in a magazine (by an artist who's known to rarely, if ever, use that product). Just saying.

i could tell you a long story about the sales rep and 77 guitars but instead I'll just say that I'll never deal with them again.

What Ibanez is this? Does not look like the PM100 nor the PM120 that Pat is often shown in the official Ibanez promotional photographs holding.

All right then. Your prerogative. I have bought five Seventy-seven Guitars Exrubatos (2 Custom, 1 Jazz, 1 Hollow, 1 Standard 2) from them in Japan and I would deal with them again.

by the way, gbase is interesting. About 50% of the archtops I've inquired about are sold. A lot of the ones that are not sold have had headstock repairs. Funny how they don't list that in the ad...

    Re the Insensitaz Video

    I believe it's a one-off prototype .......
a FG 100 type body with a single PU and a 'prestige' 20 fret neck
and a JP20 Tailpiece put together for him by Ibanez

It is all good, Jack. I can understand that different people experience different levels of service at different times. I had good dealings with them limited only to my experience and which in no way negate nor invalidate your own dealings.

    the fine print:

Fully hollow body, with a single Florentine cutaway. Made with laminated maple. There are two large soundposts, and the body center is stuffed with foam for feedback suppression. The body is very reminiscent of the Gibson ES-175.

Damn fine print. That's how the ex-wife got me to.

Ha! Indeed. I just thought the specs were close to a 175 and the price was good. Just an option.

    Hi Jack.
How about the Ibanez LGB300 or cheaper LGB30 as an option?

175 body shape, 24.75" scale, spruce top, maple back/sides, 3 piece mahogany/maple neck, 2 built in pickups.

I listened to all the clips of those guitars and every single one sounded bright and shrill to me, even the ones by George himself. I know he likes a brighter sound...Also, I think the LBG-300 has an all maple neck, not mahogany/maple. For the sound I'm looking for, I think I want the maple top.

But as I've mentioned before, i'm kind of burned out on the ibanez jazz guitars. I have gone through (2) PM-100s and (2) PM-120s and they were both extremely dark. I actually like the GB10 but hate the pickups. And there is no where to try the LGB300...
