Yeah but the Henriksen can get you covered for the jazz guitars gigs. If by any reason you think you need a better acoustic amp (for home use) than the 112ER a Loudbox Mini is cheap and sounds quite good. And going trough the PA can make any gig

For acoustic home use the 112 ER would serve me just fine.

Well being noiseless is of course good but I found them artificial and hard to dial - and I did try them for quite a long period a few years ago. I thought my Fishman sounded better, was much simpler to dial and also quite cheaper.

    But you know Kris, taste...

Can anyone compare the Mambo to a Quilter? I tried a Quilter head for 30 days and returned it. It was a decent sounding amp with many features but in the end didn't offer me anything meaningful I didn't already have.

I've been on a quest for the best sounding portable amp for months now. Jon of Mambo Amp was so kind to send me a demo model of the Mambo 10 Wedge.

I have been using it at home for a few weeks now. I will be stage testing it wednesday next. After that I will write a full review on mu Blog.

So far I am quite pleased with the amp. Very portable, loud and punchy. The Henriksen Jazz Amp is a great amp, but the Mambo is a fierce competitor. Great sound and ... way lighter and smaller.

Like I said, full review coming up later. For now some sounds. I played my Tal Farlow through it. Lofi but it will give you an idea hopefully.

Very nice, very woody! Can't say i know the tune though...

I am a great fan of mambo amps, and use the 10" for every gig these days.

I hope to be trying the prototype mambo 12 amp very soon, which will be a direct competitor to the Jazzamp 12, but smaller..

Do you still have the Henriksen would be great to get a side-by-side test same guitar, same tune, etc.

I think the Mambo 10 is already a competitor sound wise to the Henriksen 12, even with its 10" speaker. That is pretty amazing. The Henriksen weighs over 14 kilos and the Mambo just 8.

No, I had to return the Henriksen to the store after a few weeks. But I do have a clip that I haven't published yet that may do the trick. I will put the Mambo in the same position and use the same mike and guitar for a new clip. Then I will glue these two together. That will give you an idea.

Excellent, I will be very interested in the results.

Well just to make it a fairer fight, it would be best to compare the Mambo 10 against the Jazz Amp 10 (as many people feel this is the best Jazz Amp sound wise). It would also be a lot closer weight wise.

Don't know how much of it is the amp, your guitar, or your fingers, but through my Bose desktop speakers the amp's tone sound very "thick" to me. This thickness of sound is what I strive for.

You are going to help add to the almost cult status this little baby has been garnering.

I shudder to think how full and fat the tone in the 12-inch Mambo will be.

I look forward to your future review.

Just to say that Jon Shaw from Mambo Amps is a great guy, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I thought i had an 'issue' with my amp. Turns out is was my 'issue' not the amps. But I called Jon up and he gave me some advice. A couple of weeks passed (during which time I realised it was not an amp problem), and Jon called me to see if the problem was resolved. Customer service par excellence, and a business in the North West of England as well (60 mins from me). I can heartily recommend this guy and his amps (I have a 10 inch Wedge).

I woud like to have one amp that sounds good with electric and acoustic guitars.
Besides the tweeter and XLR input, is there any other difference between the M10 and the M10 Acoustic? I can't seem to find a picture of the Acoustic's control panel. I use electric nylon a lot in addition to the archtop and I really like the tweeter's sparkle. Can you turn it off on the Mambo?

During my recent email exchanges with Jon, he mentioned he was thinking of developing a 12" version of the Mambo amp next year. I'm currently using my new Mambo head with a 1X12" cabinet with an EVM12L speaker, and it's pretty awesome.

There are some small power amp differences, e-mail Jon - he will tell you all you want to know. He e-mailed me the differences but I don't want to post a personal e-mail. I bet he's willing to add a switch to turn the tweeter on / off.
