One reason I go to these places, besides my love of Italian food, is that I recommend to tourists where they should go to eat. Many of them stay in Jersey because Manhattan hotel prices are ridiculous.
It seemed to me like you might have been considering The Dante for lunch during the week, when your normal business travel might have put you close by. I frequently pass through Jersey City on my way into or out of NYC via one of the tunnels. It would have been very easy for me to alter my schedule for a lunch meeting with you, and possibly boles . . who said he's only a 5 or 10 minute walk from the restaurant.

The Casa Dante is a great place, for every aspect of a true Italian dining experience . . . . but, it probably isn't worth multiple train transfers just to get there from the Bronx. Especially when you've got some of the finest Italian restaurants to be found anywhere right there in the Bronx!!

If it's in our fate to meet there . . . something will cause it to happen.

We'll make it happen at some point. It's really not all that difficult for me; I just joke about it. And I'm actually in Westchester. There are some OK restaurants here, but generally not as good as the city.

You can take your "PICK" of great Italian restaurants in The Bronx but here is the best:

In college, many, many years ago, I worked part time as a security guard. One of the contracts was the parking booth at that place. I used to bring my strat and practice when it was quiet. They didn't really care for that, but hell, I was young. I used to store my picks where no one could see them.

Bronxville and The Bronx. As different as night and day. That's the high rent district. A lot of great joints off Pondfield; there's this one Japanese place that gets packed at lunch but I can't recall the name. Ate there about six months ago.

They buy Heritage Guitars at the hospital?

EDIT: Over on Central In Yonkers, about a five minute drive from Lawrence:

    http://www.pepespizzeria.com/

The famous one is in New Haven, CT, same owners. I haven't tried this one yet. I get mixed reviews from people but my best friend loves it and I usually go with his opinion.

LOLOL . . . My firm is an independent sales agency (out sourced sales company) for quite a few different vendors. Over the years, Jim Deurloo, Pres of Heritage Guitars, got to know me quite well. He knew I had a rep firm and so he asked me to be his rep in the NYC and New Jersey market. It's not my main revenue stream . . . . but, it's fun and it's interesting. I usually wind up spending all of the commissions my firm earns from Heritage on new Heritage guitars . . . so, it works out well for everyone.

Hey . . . FrankyNoTone . . . we're just a couple of guys getting to know each other a little better. Chill out man . . . no harm being done here. You can easily scroll down past the posts you don't want to read.

By the way, it was always about picks. I store mine in a restaurant ash tray . . . and paynow said he used to sneak a few into the guard shack at Lawrence Hospital. So, it's not a complete hijack . . . just a slight diversion. Sheeezzz . . . .

Oh . . . and they'll also recommend some great places to store your picks . . . . (Hi Franky)

OK. Here are a couple of others: I would put them in the brim of my guard cap, and store them in that holder they have on straps. I still do the strap deal.

Like Patskywriter, I like to collect pics. I do use them, but not necessarily all of them. Sometimes I think I might like to design one. I've messed around with different ideas in a 3D drawing program I have.

That's great, to get to rep all kinds of products. Seems like a pretty wide territory too. You'd be a great pick rep, Patrick.

Maybe Vic Juris, given the locale? Perhaps Pizzarelli Jr. before he became a big star? I used to see him, Bucky and Martin all the time at Defemio's in Yonkers, which unfortunately no longer exists. Sorry, I don't know where they store their picks. Maybe Casa Dante has you store them in a canoli.

No problem. Franky knows how to Relax! That's a music reference BTW which I don't know how many here will get. And have fun at Casa, I believe another of my famous namesakes has an appropriate song that goes something like: "Strangers in the night, exchanging plectrums..."

Cool. Ya had me worried about you for a minute. I was worried that you might be some kinda *cafone*. I was wrong . . . you're a regular guy. Glad I didn't offend you.

By the way, in that linkup to the Casa Dante "entertainment" that I posted above, . . .the guy pictured with the Sinatra hat does Sinatra almost as good as Sinatra did himself. LOLOLOL

There is a small pick pouch that's always attached to my key chain.

I also have a small tin box with a few favorite picks as well as an old tweed slide case. I usually bring either one of them with me to practices not at my house and gigs. The tweed case has three drawers: one for picks; one for various nail files and clipper; one with a few tuners, pencils, small screwdrivers, blade, string winder...

Finally, I have a few Wedgie pick holders. They are made to be wedged between the strings at the peghead, but they fit nicely between the bridge and the tailpiece on an archtop.

    @ SamBooka:

I bought five here in Calgary from Long & McQuade at $1.70 each. You can order them online but shipping (about $15) is too high to make it worthwhile, unless you buy a bunch of other stuff that you can't get locally -- which is not likely.

I see that you are in Mtl. Try Archambault. Their website says that they have them at $2.99. (Ouch! Almost double, plus you have provincial sales tax on top...)

Thanks Eddie.. I dont think there are any L&Ms in Quebec (oddly.. they are in every other province.. but this is a funny place sometimes)

at twice the price for archambault I agree but at the same time 8$ for two is not going to kill me.. that is like less than a 1/3 of a bottleof wine..

There are a couple of other places I can try as well but I have some freaky lung infection so I dont get out much for the past few weeks..

I REALLY appreciate your efforts tho.. Cheers.

most of my picks end up in the laundry... the ones that survive are sitting around my studio.
