I painted my last house turquoise. It was less about grabbing attention than it is an appreciation for bold, striking colors but the attention grabbing part is a bonus. I'm definitely not open minded haha. Do I now seem cute in a tongue in cheek way?

I was looking at pink Santana PRS' last week.....

I don't look good in pink, so not going for it. But Sonic Blue--that one I'd hit all day.

JMO but I don't understand the jones for vintage brass Tele saddles. I've put together several Teles with brass saddles, and they're fine but a bit of a PITA to intonate. The modern version with a 6-saddle bridge just seems so much superior for intonation and reliability. I can't convince myself that there's a difference tone-wise.

Or, I just like pink? I mean, I AM a child of the 80s.

I have a few pink shirts. And my soccer team (including me, the coach) wears pink socks all October for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

I like all of the Fender "car colors" really. Burgundy mist? Yum.

Though I think the first pink guitar I thought was really cool was when I saw a picture of John Squire with one (a shell pink Strat) which he used for most of the guitar parts on the Stone Roses' first album. I love that record.

And Bobby Weir had that pink Modulus too!...though that was more hot pink. I draw the line there I do not think I could rock a hot pink guitar.

Don’t you already own at least one totally good telecaster?

I do, but it's a vintage style neck (fat contour, narrow nut, small frets) and single coils. It's great and I don't want to change it. This would allow me to have a neck humbucker on a solidbody guitar with a body shape I find comfortable.

This argument is like asking a queen termite "Uh, your majesty, don't you already have a baby?"

Yes, I just picked up a '64 Custom Shop ES335 from a forum member (thanks Phil!), and my wife said "that's really red!", so now I have a complex about it, even though red is a really standard ES color! The only "wine red" guitar I've owned was an original '59 Gobels L5CT, but that was long ago. It was gorgeous, but didn't sound that great.

But pink is not a place I can go with a guitar. I do have a pink dress shirt though, if that matters, which it doesn't. There are other colors on this Pacifica that I would prefer. And I'm not sure I would be interested in those new-design pickups without a careful audition. I've never cared for other "upgrades" on pickup design, and I've had several. Maybe they have cracked the code.

I am however very interested in getting a "jazz" telecaster if the right one comes along.

I bought a Rutters Telecaster from a fellow forum member that has knocked it out of the park for me. Semi hollow with a spruce top and a CC pickup in the neck position. It competes well against my archtops for jazz.

Secondly, even with separate pots and caps, it is hard to balance volume when switching through the positions. If you are going to use one pickup almost all the time, this might not matter, but you should still make sure that the pot and cap values are right for what you want.

I see that this model has a premium Made in Japan variation. That would be my choice as I live by the whole "buy nice or buy twice" motto.

Pink would not be my choice, but some guys like them. A former bandmate (he now is the bandleader of my old band) has a Pink Tele. A local artist did a large format oil painting of my old band which now sits in my living room. I will be seeing my old bandmate's pink Tele for the rest of my days it seems...

Yamaha's quality and reputation is second to none, the only reason they aren't more popular is because they don't advertise as much. Mike Stern has been playing his Yamaha Tele for over 2 decades.. I played a Yamaha Pacifica Strat a few years ago; and I was astounded as to why they aren't more popular, it felt better than any Ibanez Strat I ever played..

    Cheers,

Probably the coolest pink guitar out there right now. Also the best studio blues album I’ve heard in a long time. Sounds like you’re in the room with them.

    Lovely!

I definitely love this VERY inexpensive Ibanez "strat." Its fun to play, sounds good, plays easy, this would be THE guitar I'd recommend to someone starting out.

Chris Cain's most recent release sounds pretty good too. No pink guitars though.

@bluejaybill - If your wife thinks the '64 Custom/Murphy 335 is "really red," then you got the right one. The 1990 I kept is even more intensely red. Anyway, that's the color a 335 should be wearing. You can let her know I said so. '...I do have a pink dress shirt though...' Good one! Remember the pink suit Robert Redford had in The Great Gatsby? Maybe get one of those too. Along with some pink preppie pants next time you go to Nantucket in the summer.

For everyone else looking askance at pink guitars, they grow on you! Especially solid bodies. Give these two some side-eye. A 2024 MIJ Fender Sixties Tele in Shell Pink, double-bound, with Duncan Zephyr silver wound pickups. I even have a pink Joe Strummer Fender case for it! The other is my custom Falbo solid body with Duncan P-90 and Tele bridge pickups.

Stainless steel frets...it looks like a Suhr and should sound similar...personally, it might not be the sound that most jazz musicians are looking for...

    Cheap is relative..

I was in finance management for years..I heard stories (true or not) that could be episodes of the Twilight Zone.

    Cheap indeed.
