If it's 25.5" scale I'm totally in, but I doubt it. Pat seems to use 24.75". Also wondering what the neck profile is like. The last PM model I owned had a really thin neck that I couldn't get along with. Neck material looks like a 5 piece similar to the PM2.

It's also marked PM3C, not just PM3. Wonder if they will come out with different pickup configurations later on.

Pretty exciting but I've never used a CC pickup and the price is a touch high imo

Yeah, $260 then I still need to source a guitar to do non-reversible modifications on. Easily going to come in over $1,500 by the time I'm done. I guess I could get a kay or harmony, but then I'll need to do a neck reset and fret job... it adds up to "not worth it" pretty quick.

Nobody knows yet. Apart from the one dealer selling on Reverb, no one else has one available and it's not yet on the Ibanez website.

This new model, the PM3C, has been in the works since 2019 and there's been a long-running thread on this forum collating information and speculation about it: Ibanez working on new Metheny model with CC?

Perhaps the mods can merge these two threads?

I did reach out to the dealer and asked a couple questions and the he verified that the guitar is all laminate (of course but I checked just in case) and it has 24.7" (I think he meant 24.75") scale length. He said he reached out to Ibanez for details on the neck profile.

That looks very cool. I don’t think the price is crazy, given the market these days, for a quality guitar that fits a need.

I would still want to play it to see how it feels and sounds. I’ve never played a CC guitar. Pat got me to buy a 175 back in the day, and if it’s good enough for Pat, prolly I’d like it too.

They are part of the classic original construction of "Charlie Christian type" pickups for archtop guitars. Here is a cheap example and a more pricey version which show what is below the arched top.

thanks for that! i'm not very familiar with this type of pickups and i always assumed they are of the floating type variety for archtops.

Except neither of those options are constructed like the originals. The originals had huge cobalt magnets rather than compact alnico magnets which necessitated the 3 mounting screws.

yeah I wonder if the pu is a new bespoke design by Ibanez or something already existing they’ve bought in ….

either way it’s fairly unlikely that it’s based on the large Cobalt magnet
design of the original gibson CC
