I was going to say, it looks more like a flat top than an archtop. This seems like a common trend coming out of China. The new Epiphone 150th anniversary edition Zephry, is literally flat.

You can see it e.g. in this video:
    at around 01:42
yeah the prototype in the video
    Ibanez Pat Metheny model 2024-img_5047-jpeg

    has the deep cutaway
this is similar to a PM200
    japan
    Ibanez Pat Metheny model 2024-img_5050-jpeg

and similar construction to the current AF2000
    japan
    Ibanez Pat Metheny model 2024-img_5049-jpeg

my belief is that Pats prototypes
are made in Japan so use the Japanese body plan

    the cheaper models not made
in Japan all seem to use a slightly
different body plan with a less
    deep cutaway

including of course the new PM3C

    Ibanez Pat Metheny model 2024-img_5048-jpeg
looks to be similarly arched to the other
    current AF non japanese offerings

in fact My AF2000 japan is similarly arched

All I needed was to focus on something I already had, and amazingly, my playing has improved 1,000 percent overnight! Booking my gig at Newport as we speak, thanks, Ibanez!

“My blunt and futile fingers are to blame for my lack of technical execution and poor musical content of my insipid guitar meanderings. Meanwhile my 8-bit 48K brain inhibits my ability to remember the bridge of pretty much any tune. With this gear i can truly fulfil my musical potential. Which is negligible."

I love translating Japanese guitar descriptions. It’s a beautifully poetic language with lots of #9b5’s thrown in.

“guitar has strong presence, leaf reaching for branch. Moonlight captures wonder neck good”

I'm wondering what experience has led you to post that opinion.

Here's my experience with this model:

A used (traded in) Epiphone 150th Anniversary Zephyr Deluxe Regent popped up at one of my local big box stores.

I went down to check it out and was blown away. I couldn't stop playing it because it just sounded so great. Of course after a half hour or so I did stop, and bought it right there and then.

(Like-new cond. I paid $1450.00 CAD or about $1,055.00 USD)

Very reasonable price for a 17", long scale, 3 3/8" deep, with hard case, ebony finger board, 5piece (no scarf joint) neck, real mop inlays.

The tuners aren't great and indeed there isn't much of an arch, but it is not LITERALLY flat as was stated above. There is a small arch on the top and back.

I have zero regrets for buying it, so I thought that I would respond to your opinion in case others with "working man" budgets are interested in this type of guitar.

Sorry for the derailment, back to the discussion on the Ibanez PM3C.

It’s simple, I don’t like the flatness of the top. A flat archtop is just, meh, swing and a miss, to me.

I already have a modern Broadway and recommend them all the time.

And still not a single demo video up on youtube. Seems like someone would have bought one by now and thrown something up. Thats surprising.

That is all very fair and your experience is valid.

My opinion, is that it's not an archtop and nothing at all like a Zephyr, so I have no idea why they called it a 150th anniversary Zephyr. Epiphone would never had made that guitar.

That does not mean you didn't get a great deal, or that it's not well made, or that it doesn't sound good.
I appreciate that someone barking at your guitar is annoying and or frustrating and for that I apologise.

Hey, no problem. I understand that you are a serious student of the construction of archtop guitars and you find the marketing of this guitar to be suspect.

I just wanted to point out to parties who may be interested in the guitar that it's a nice guitar for a reasonable price.

It's all good. Folks who care about historical accuracy have been informed, and folks who don't have been informed as well.

Heres a video. Better than nothing I guess. Soon there will be one where someone actually plays it. I mean you are holding it guy, strum a chord for crying out loud.

Looks to be fairly lightly built
(From the way he's holding it and moving it around)

    (highly unscientific I know)

    I couldn't make out a B string notch on the pickup ....

Exciting tho .... They exist !
