Thats the good thing, Neural DSP have a 14 day trial on each plugin, so you can try before you buy. I have 2 plug-ins but have tried a bunch to find the ones I like

Same here. To me the Archetype Mateus Asato is personally perfect and the Tone King is 2nd best. Meanwhile I use the plugins with the York Audio IR‘s which are in a class of their own.

I didn’t think they were very good at all. The Universal Audio amps are WAY better.

Compared to the Neuraldsp tones UA sounds poor to my ears.

It is what it is. Simply the best. I‘m playing the NDSP plugins since 9 months and I‘m still always surprised about this beautiful tone full of dynamics. Absolutely „real“ and at least the Mateus Asato plugin sounds and acts like a real tube amp. Pure, crisp, super sensitive to the attack, warm and organic. They‘ve done everything right and I‘ve found the tone I was searching for in many different tube amps.

This. I really don't want to futz around imitating john mayer's signal chain. I have a really great NAM capture of a gibson EH-185 and it sounds GREAT into the daw. NAM is free and you don't have to wade through the slickly produced John Mayer wanna be stuff

Have you tried this Stefan? If so, good "Jazz" tones?

I‘m recently trying the plugin. It‘s amazing. You can get amazing jazzy tones, especially from the Vibroverb amp.

As far as science of emulation goes NAM 2 seems to beat every other emulation so far. They tested it in many ways. Beside is free and open source, and quite light!!

Now, regarding convinience that is probably the point where other platforms performs better.

The polytone capture recently uploaded is amazing.

Boon and bane…those emulations sound great. And my neuraldsp emulations sound great too. Does it make sense to try new stuff every few months? I don‘t think so as long as you’re happy with your tone.

Not totally related, but I use just the stock ableton cabinet/mic/mixer plugin (plus some reverb/eq) and it has gotten me a far better jazz tone than the amp sim/IR based stuff i have tried; and that included Neural DSP, Amplitube, Polytone IRs.

I don't understand how people find good IRs. I have gone through folders of them and most just don't sound good to me. Like you're plugged into an amp that's in a room 20 ft down the hall with the door partially closed.

Maybe I haven't found the 'right' ones but it's still baffling to me how so many are really awful sounding. So muddy.

There are superb IR‘s out there to fit anyones needs. I really love the original Celestion IR‘s (and they‘re by far better than the stock Neuraldsp IR‘s).
