On Friday I night I took some photos of some guitars. Mostly to produce some sales listings. Others just for fun. Thought I'd share for this group because I'm very happy with the turnout. I have some fancy (film) cameras, but for this, I just used my iphone. Amazing what you can do with a phone and some diligent lighting.

Great stuff! Could you elaborate on the light sources please?

Your listing for the blonde has some of the best L5 photos I've seen, and there's many very good guitar photographers around here. Never hurts to have a spectacular subject of course.

Great shots, Juan, and sickeningly-tempting guitars. Sadly, my days of guitar acquisition are over, but I’m happy with what I have. Good luck with the sales!

Now do the same with some Kodak film!

I’ve had the best luck using natural light near a big window and a plain background, like a white sheet or wall. Makes the guitar pop without needing extra gear.

I'm glad this thread was re-awakened. Those are gorgeous pics!

Here's a lesson I learned the hard way: while everything is set up, take multiple images and move or angle the light source or the subject a tiny bit each time. The thumb print at the top of the lower bout was not visible in the viewfinder.

The reflections can also be eliminated with very tiny shifts in position (which I didn't do for this shot, taken years ago). I just "healed" two of them with GIMP for an example - the tiny one above the bass f hole and the bigger one above the string end of the tailpiece. This works OK but left the grain and spot color of the top altered in the healed areas. It can be done better, but it's rarely perfect without pro tools and experience. Doing it in post takes a lot more time than adjusting the positions of the camera, light source(s), and instruments - and it looks real without processing because it is. I was unable to heal the thumb print without distorting the binding a little bit. No matter how carefully you try to clean and polish, there's almost always something you didn't see or remove fully.

Juan, if you ever published a book of your guitar photos, I'd buy it! You have some truly incredible instruments.

Thank you! This is a zombie thread and I actually sold most of the guitars posted here already FYI. I do owe you all some more pics though

Boy what a great group of lovely guitars. Not sure I could even sell one of them...

What's the story on the Teles? Year? Do you still have them?

Sold both of those teles but still have a bunch left.

One was a Nacho Banos Tele. Really incredible guitar but I didn't get along with the neck dimensions and the finished/maple board.
Other was a professionally assembled partscaster with TK smith pickups. I originally built it while waiting for TK to build me a custom guitar from scratch. He built said guitar so I sold this one.

The only one of those guitars I still have is the burst wesmo.
