I have a 1965 ES-345TDC sv.

It's my main guitar. I have almost 60 years of use on it. All of the controls including the Varitone switch are original and all work well.

In 2005, the guitar developed a slight string buzz that I could not isolate and solve. I called Gibson and they told me to bring it to then open Matt Umanov's Guitars in NYC.

I brought the guitar in on a Saturday morning having arranged in advance with Umanov's to bring it directly upstairs to the luthier. I complied and in less than 5 minutes, he adjusted the retainer spring on the Tune O Matic Bridge and the guitar has been fine ever since.

I own two other Gibsons an L5C and an ES-175D. A few years ago
I recorded those two guitars and the 345. I played the same chord melody solos through my trusty Fender Twin.

I used the neck pick-up and all controls at 10. On the 345, I set the Varitone to 2. On playback all three guitars sounded the same. There are some who believe that where and how you pick and where you finger the note in relation to the fret pretty much determine your tone.
