You can do custom orders with Pyramid. I've had them make a few sets based on the hand-picked TI Spectrum combo I like on my Loar (basically to get the Plectrum AC112 tension profile), in hand-polished PB silk-and-steel. I replace my strings on an as-needed basis (and I like the sound of "dead" strings) so I can only say that the 6th and 3rd strings fit right in with the Spectrums - bit livelier probably.
They'll make you anything for which they have the ingredients with only a relatively tiny upcharge for a custom order (in fact, my usual string vendor doesn't carry the brand because they would be to little profit.

I saw that someone posted that there was a problem getting Newtone strings in the U.S. and if that's the case then maybe GnJ no longer carries them but last I checked they were still selling their own branded strings.

I could be wrong but GnJ just seems to be selling off whatever they have left in stock.I know someone who wanted Newtone 11's but GnJ hasn't had them in stock in the last year and he finally just bought them direct from Newtone.

Less guitars = less strings. Been thinking about that a lot lately.

Ordered flat wounds (edit: not flats.. Archtop series double wrap rounds) on Newtone website. Didn't do an exhaustive search but didn't find their flats anywhere else. Even the Newtone website is showing them backordered. 15% off if you order 10 sets which makes them a pretty decent deal.

Does Newtone even make flatwound string?.I have their archtop strings but they are not flatwound and they do have very little squeak. They are more like halfwounds to me.That 15 percent off is a good deal,3 sets of Thomastik Bensons would cost as much or more at $48.

Thanks for that. My mistake.. not flat wounds. Describe as "A Double wrap of Nickel Plated Steel over a Round core gives these strings a unique feel and sound. They are warm and mellow, with less string squeal." Hopefully they will split some of the difference between squeaky rounds and flats. I usually prefer the sound of rounds but the play-ability of flats. Edited original post to avoid confusion. Also, you have to buy 10 sets to get 15% off. 3 sets would only be 5% off. About $6 shipping. Still quite a good deal if they are a viable alternative.

No what i meant was that 3 sets of Bensons would cost the same as 10 sets of Newtone at 15 percent off which to me is a great deal. From your desciption of what you are looking for,i think you will be very happy with Newtones. The only thing i need to see is how long the Newtones last before they need to be replaced.I can tell you when playing acoustically,i like the Newtone better than Thomastik.

Is George a metallurgist and came up with a new formula? Do they really play/sound better than the JS (twice as good?) I havent found cheaper or other flats that I like so been staying with TI for flats. So I know some of you guys really like the GB's flats, what is it that makes them different(and twice the $)than the JS? For rounds Ive been using La bella 13-56 but swapping the E&B for 15, 18 TIs I was getting singles from strings direct but now their prices on singles has doubled! Really just wondering what makes GB's twice as expensive.
I found a set of TI Benson flats to be very very similar to
    TI jazz swing flats ....

So I go with the jazz flats now
    But that's just me

At last some quality guitar stuff is cheaper here in EU. Thomann sells GB’s for 33€ and .013 Swings for 18,95€.

(I don’t buy things from Thomann, rather locally. But I know that my 2 sets of .013 Swings per year might not be worth of having them in the shop’s repertoire. So I use local online seller!)

…except that there is no JS114 set. That’s the only reason I wanted to try the big Bensons.

You're on the right side of shipping for Thomann, but the wrong side for LaBella.

I just ordered 2 sets of Archtops, a 13 and a 14 directly from Newtone to be shipped to Massachusetts and it went through without a hitch. I received some 12 gauges from them 3 weeks ago. It appears that we can order from the US....Peter
