If anyone really wants it that bad I can record a comparison. OP will be disappointed because JC is correct.

But it's not apples to apples. CES have thicker tops and bracing. I bet if you just butchered an L5 to add humbuckers, it would still be fairly responsive. Maybe 40% of perceived volume. But If you compare a purpose built CES to an acoustic they're worlds apart. Thought exercise: if I pulled the humbuckers out of my CES I still think the acoustic voice would be <20% perceived volume of the L5.

You can get some indication of acoustic volume at an audience distance by playing facing a relatively close hard bare wall, and hearing the reflected sound. Not exactly the same, but some sort of an approximation. I certainly hear my archtops better that way.

OP here. Just the opposite. I am hoping the non-cut no-pickup would be louder. (I just seriously doubt the 90%.)

Just in case anyone might think Mr. Chirillo was being a little naughty, Tyree Glenn wrote the instrumental 'Sultry Serenade'. Lyrics were added subsequently and the vocal version is known as 'How Could You do That Thing to Me'. On the Chirillo cd it is attributed to Tyree Glenn.
