I bought this based on a head's up by somebody on the forum. The seller advertised it as all original, no issues, all bracing glued firmly, etc.

Unfortunatelly, I got it and the bridge pickup was out of phase and intermittent, both pickups appear to have either been replaced or had been removed and extremely poorly spliced back in with amateur wiring and the bracing was loose on the top. This was pretty much a nightmare scenario and one reason I hate buying old guitars, sight unseen. It's been my experience that almost EVERY '60s guitar will have similar issues with hardware, bracing, top sinkage, etc. I negotiated returning it for a refund as the seller had promised it was all original and issue free but fortunately, he refunded some money to make up for the issues. I just got it back from the shop and the repairman did a wonderful job. He had to reverse the magnets on the bridge pickup to fix the phase problem.

Oops, davinci is the editor I use to create the video. I preface the filename with "raw video" and "reaper" and "davinci" so I know what stage the files represent

I figured I'd get a lot of hate comments from the sunglasses but I did it originally as a gag. And then several people commented that it looked like I was having so much fun and I noticed that more people seem to be engaged on youtube with it. So my son, suggested keeping the sunglasses on because it makes the videos more fun to watch and so it's sort of stuck...

Very nice. It is most likely the pickups were out of phase intentionally from the factory. Just need to flip the magnet on either pickup to put them back in phase. Only affects the middle pickup setting. Cool Guitar .

Glad you got all the kinks worked out! It's great to have you back here on six strings and a pick. You already know how much I dig that guitar. It does sound perfect.

thanks very much! I do love it. There's something about the sound of a 60 year old guitar that just speaks to me. Maybe because it's age-appropriate for me!

I wanted to say something clever or profound or meaningful. But I just quit trying. Instead, I’ll just say that was amazing to listen to and joyful to watch. Wow, man.

Got my '63 Kessel back from the shop, here's a clip-kramer-jpg

But seriously folks....stellar playing, Jack! The operation appears to have been a success, for which we're all grateful.

Normally I think that sunglasses on a musician or a singer drops the personality and the meaningfulness of the performance about 100% (except with Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles) but in Your video the sunglasses work great! Ecpecially with that smile!

And yes, playing and sound on video are on classic level too!

Nice playing and a fine sounding guitar. I dig your liberal use of blues licks. And the "Blind boy Zucker" look works. Especially with the smiles.

Thanks, it's so appreciated. And at the end of the day, blues is what connects all of us I think. Or at least, it's what grounds jazz and keeps it from being an academic exercise...I need to listen to more BB King *AND* Howard Roberts...

Somebody who can play like you do can wear unicorn frames with their sunglasses and I won't care. Really I think what we're all picking up here is not just the playing and tone, which are extraordinary, but the joy you're reflecting as you play. Reminds me of Wes Montgomery who seemed to take so much pleasure from playing.

Of Course! Playing some blues on a guitar is about as musical as it gets. Many players forget that IT IS A GUITAR! Playing guitaristic things is OK. If you cannot connect with the listener, what is the point?
