I am beyond thrilled to post this! Here is the NGD posted by Kyle Bryant when he bought this Trenier in 2020. 2006 Trenier Custom RW
Kyle is a great guy and helped me make the best decision I ever have about purchasing the guitar from him.
Bryant Trenier made this in 2006 custom for Rick Wright thus the RW Custom name. Rick sold it to Bryant.
I have been a singer songwriter and played guitar since I was 12 as a folk/country blues supporting instrument. I was a pro keyboard player in NY in the late 60's and 70's and that was the instrument I really worked on. But I gigged a lot as a folkie playing Martin flats and in addition I sold guitars at the (infamous or famous) Manny's in NY from 72-74. So I've listened critically to a lot of guitars! Starting about 6 months ago I began devoting myself to guitar with jazz study primarily but still gigging my own material which is only now including jazz compositions. I've been playing 4+ hours daily. I have a 1959 Gibson L4C with a de'armond floating pickup and a telecaster set up for jazz and they are very nice. Then I saw this offering on our forum and was curious about what was to me a new name. Then I heard many examples including Kyles. The size and almost every aspect that Rick must of asked for especially solid spruce top and dots on the fingerboard were just what I would have asked for. Then there's the metaphysics of the decision. 27 is my "lucky" number but it has deeper meaning to me than that. This is the 27th guitar Bryant made. I called Kyle and bought it on 6/27 not consciously aware of the date.

And then there is the guitar. It is by far the most satisfying and wondrous I have ever played or heard. It has tremendous tonal width and clarity. It maintains an acoustic guitar voice when amplified. I have a recording studio and I am recording it acoustically and through amps and...wow. I didn't expect however that even with flats I can dig in picking near the bridge and get all the folk/country chime I want! No more need to have 2 or more guitars at a show! And did I mention how it plays....fantastically. Guess you get how I feel about it. Bryant talked in an interview about emotion being the key of any art form both playing and making guitars included. he seems to make emotion amplifiers which I shared with him when telling him of this "27"s new home.

    Woodstock,
Congrats on the wise purchase of a Trenier Guitar ! Everything you are describing is what many owners have said about their Trenier guitars. In my opinion - no modern luthier has made a more dedicated and sustained commiment to keeping Jimmy D'Aquisto's design alive .... than Bryant Trenier.
Wishing you years of enjoyment .

I just had a tear in the eye moment. I have been so enamored of this instrument I sent a rendition of a new composition to Bryant Trenier. My heart was in my throat as I do not see myself as an accomplished jazz guitar player, by a long shot. But I intend to get as close as I can. The song is new and still being composed. I sent 2 versions. I'm going to let Bryant speak for himself and post his response, and I'll let my response to him speak for me. While I'm at it, the song is included. BTW, there has been a thread here on SSS pedals and I actually recorded this to demo what my Peace Hill (Tube) SSS preamp sounds like through a tonemaster Twin. The "depth" switch shines through. It does something different than adjusting bass and mids, it kinda adds gravitas. I think it's what Bryant was responding to. I hesitated posting it to an audience of such superb players. I guess Bryant just gave me permission. best....Peter

Hi Peter - I'm finally getting the chance to listen to these recordings - I like them both! I might like the first one a bit better, as I am a fan of darker tones. They are both really nice, good job - I'm happy the instrument feels comfortable enough for you to express yourself in this way, there is no better compliment for a guitar maker. When an instrument feels instantly like an old friend - that's what we're all looking for.
    Keep up the good stuff,
    Bryant

Hi Bryant- I can’t tell you how pleased I am that you like my song. I just listened back and do appreciate the darkness of take 1. Jazz composition and guitar are long, long overdue new arrivals in my life. I didn’t let not knowing if I "deserved” such a magnificent instrument get in my way….thank goodness. An “old friend” like this, (it's exactly how it feels, like it’s been with me forever) greatly facilitates the path we are all on. It inspires composition and technique. I played it at a Unitarian Church that I usually play hymns on piano (and sing my original songs) on Sunday. Several people came up and said the exact same thing…”That’s the most beautiful sounding guitar I ever heard”. And “It sounds like angels”. Pretty good job yourself!!

The magic of Jimmy D lives on and on.
It must be great having a legacy that lives on so far past your own time here. Orville to John to Jimmy to Monteleone, Mirabella, Bryant and Borys.. I wonder where we go from here?
Gorgeous guitar, great story. Enjoy your masterpiece.
    Thank you for sharing!

And don't forget Linda Manzer, who apprenticed with Jimmy for a time. See Julian Lage with his Blue Note. Another take on the Jim Hall guitars and the B-120.

Thank You CCroft. That was a COLLOSSAL mistake on my part. What about One of my favorite players, Ted Ludwig!! Oh what a dummy I can be sometimes..
Linda is a wonderful person and one of my favorite builders of all time. I've chatted with her and she actually told me she listened to my videos while she is carving..
Of all people for me to forget.. She shouldn't be the one..
    Thanks, Joe D
