All I was saying that putting a G string smaller than ,22 on a guitar without any major issues should only require minor intonation adjustments.
About the mounting posts, I wasn't referring to the post position but some bridges can be adjusted by moving the bridge further or closer to the neck. There are adjusting screws to move the bridge in or out (NOT height adjusting). If the 335 was set up for the wound G string it is possible that the bridge itself could be moved back.
I think you may be right to say that reversing the saddle may solve the problem. I don't see how the problem could be in the nut, or tailpiece.
