I've occasionally seen an archtop with a really unique or beautiful tailpiece. Post some photos of your favorites!

Just for it being familiar yet-unusual I like the triple frequensator on my Maton Starline. Also I like how on the saddle, there are little bone inserts for each string.

    Sure, I'll play:

ABM Model 1281: their finest tailpiece, no longer in production.

    Some beautiful tailpieces here.

I’m a nylon string guy, but i must say that a good tailpiece on a f-hole archtop stirs my soul.

I like the simplicity of Ken Parker's tailpieces. I think he is going for lightweight, too.

Here's a lovely tailpiece fitted to a guitar that I think was built by John Abbott Sr. in the 1930s. I would love to verify this working theory. Anyone know anything? Other examples?

Nothing boring about an L-5! That TP remains a strong #2 on my list, barely below the D' Angelico stairstep with the triangulated, straight cross-pieces. I maintain that an archtop's tailpiece, its' materials, mass, and configuration, contribute audibly (if subtly) to the instrument's over-all tonal capacity.

Certainly, from a purely visual standpoint, The tailpiece is a natural counter-focus and complement to the headstock, with all those parallels and perpendiculars between merging into the sensual curves of the body; the eye moving from top to bottom and back around and so on. Getting the balance perfect is the luthier's task.

Campellone's tailpiece ranks with the best, in my very humble opinion. A superb solution.

Having only seen them in pictures, I never cared for the Guild harp TPs. THEN one day I saw one in person, up close, and it all made sense! I made an instant, open-ended offer for the instrument, was told I'd have to take a number, and I learned a valuable lesson - never leave the house without a big wad of cash, just in case you need it.

And that Cadillac TP is just perfect for that guitar!
