    Well well well

For your consideration the new Ibanez JPCS8

How about a Multi-Scaled, Bartolini equipped, a Hand Carved Spruce Top and even a Certificate of Authenticity?
Yours at Sweetwater for only 17,999.99 (MSRP 23,999.99)

    Ibanez website:
    Ibanez Guitars | JPCS8 | "TOTALLY JAZZED"

    Sweetwater:
Ibanez 50th Anniversary Japan Custom Shop JPCS8 Hollowbody Electric Guitar - Totally Jazzed | Sweetwater

Way out of this kids budget!

I thought Ibanez were selling these on an lottery system, whereby you contacted your local Ibanez dealer and asked for a ticket or number. That put you in a lottery where you might be in with a chance of winning the chance to then buy A guitar.
So now it seems Ibanez just gave them to dealers. Or Seetwater won a slot.
As far as I could make out, a large portion of those Ibanez anniversary guitars were rip offs of Seventy Seven's.

At 18K, I'll just stay with my similarly scaled hand carved archtop at less than one third the cost of the Ibanez

I agree. I can’t get used to the look of the slanted frets, bridge, etc.

Yeah, Rob -- beautiful fanned-fret Forshage!

I've been a long-time Novax (fanned-fret) player, and I love the vibe and tonal clarity! Unfortunately, Ralph (Novak) isn't making guitars anymore, but makers like Clay Conner and Chris Forshage make fantastic fanned-fret archtops (likes Rob's!). If I had an extra $18K for fun, fanned-fret guitars, I'd buy four Conner/Forshage archtops! [or this one, too!]

[this is actually 25-27" fan, BTW]

I helped Ralph Novak at the NAMM show the last few years he was there, so I saw hundreds of players look, gasp, gawk, and then play the instruments. I'm convinced it's a "psychological" thing, in that some wouldn't even touch them (due to the look), and others wouldn't even notice the frets (once they started playing). It took me about five minutes to get used to mine when I first got it. Now that other builders are using the design, if you see one out there, check it out!

What's the body width? It seems to be an elusive spec.
Pretty guitar, looks like they're trying to establish themselves in the upper upscale market. I don't doubt it's a nice guitar, but that price range is for more than the cost of the guitar, it's the price of prestige.
Toyota wanted to go upscale so they made Lexus and they even made a supercar with no limits on their R&D budget. They made a true masterpiece but they couldn't dodge the stigma of Toyota associations.
It'll be an interesting story to see how this plays out. Who knows? This may be the next Gibson Kalamazoo. Hmmm, but even those are a hard sell.

I’ve always been a big Ibanez fan boy you guys know how crazy I am about the George Benson models.
When the Japanese GB40 model came out there were only 40 produced - it was allotted to high-volume dealers only and pretty much already spoken for and paid for.

But for the kind of money that they want for that guitar you could buy yourself a bunch of Campellone Specials easily . No thanks Ibanez.

    hmmmmmm

I'm wondering if you could train a beaver to chew the middle part...

I guess you're joking? CNC machine?

You had to put in an order with your dealer for any of the 50, and then the dealers who had orders for individual guitars were in that guitar's "lottery". So, it may have been 1 or 200 dealers in the lottery for each guitar.

So why is it for sale at Sweet water then? Did Sweetwater do the dirty on Ibanez

They are the dealership that won the lottery for that guitar. A smaller dealership would likely not have thrown in for a guitar at that price, but Sweetwater could have put themselves forth without an order. I think if you look around on reverb you'll likely find a bunch of these guitars.

EDIT: There are 4 of the 50 on Reverb right now. Gear | Reverb

Edit EDIT: Ok, if you want to see all 50 guitars, and see which dealers won what in the lottery, you can follow this link and click the "Puchase Here" link on the top right of the page. Ibanez Guitars | Celebrating 50 Years Building Guitars

    Edit x3: Ibanez JPCS 8 (1 of 1 built)
