Also worth noting that the scale length is 25'5" so the pickup will look slightly out of place on a 16" guitar.

If someone has an L5 and would like to take measurement from the nut (fret side) to the centre of the humbucker, we can compare the distance to the JP-20. I'm not saying the pickup is in the right place but I'd be curios to know how the two compare.
    ATH,
Yes I realize that but just saying about the JP20. Generally I find the guitar as a warmer sound if the pickup is moved as far away from the bridge as possible for the pickup. I am surprised Joe did not have a 24 3/4 scale for that guitar because I am pretty sure he favored the shorted scale length. I am not sure what his D'aquisto was but it certainly could have been 25.5 for sure. My guess the necks on those guitars are pretty good too probably better than most.

Yes sorry I didn't mean to come off as condescending and apologies if I did.

There are some interesting design choices on the JP20 no doubt. Some that would lean into Joe's playing and others as you mention that wouldn't.
Definitely a guitar that stands out amongst it's peers. Whither in a good or bad way.
    I would have thought Joe's D'aquisto would have a 25" scale?

Yes woody and warm. For my ear, the balance this instrument needed. Very happy with it.
If Duncan had been making the Antiquities back then, I may have chosen that. I put them both on par with each other.
