After frantically cleaning up the home studio to look "nice" because we were having guest musicians stay over, now I can't find my zipper pouch with my wireless set, or my nice black G7 Performance capo. Don't know where the h*** I put them. D***, I've torn apart everything in every room and cabinet, looking everywhere.

I sympathize. Currently looking for my favorite slide and nail maintenance kit.
-
I'm trying to remember where I put a few old archtops ...
-
Give it some time.
Found my old Peterson Strobo clip-on tuner in my jacket pocket after 2yrs.
-
I bet Dolly Parton took them…

I suspect your guests took them.

My Shubb capo has gone missing from my man cave for a couple of years now. I know it's there somewhere.

Maybe someone now will invent a gizmo that finds gear---ya know, like the one that finds the remote under the couch?

Now where's my tuner?

This happens to me all the time. Just as often, while looking for something I can't find, I stumble across something I forgot I had. Which is probably why I have 200 guitar cables.

I found a capo; no idea where it came from, slightly ashamed to have it.

Oh man, let me please bend down to kiss those and be forever grateful. (Sincere apologies to the nice talented women here if that bothers you.)

But even worse was the fact that I couldn't find the control foot switch box for my PV Transtube EFX112, which turns on about ten different effects that I needed. Like all my effects pedals, this thing wasn't in too good shape either, but I was going to get it repaired, and I had to have it for the show.
I went into the first paid rehearsal without it, and had to manually shut on and off all the effects I needed, and I was getting dirty looks from some of the people when I didn't come in at the right time, because I took too long switching things on and off.
I was about to give up, when I saw the long wire to the control foot switch box right in plain sight in my bedroom, and I traced it to the freaking box, under a cabinet. This thing has four foot switches on it, so it's pretty large.
I was trying to buy one, because the only repair shop that could fix it wanted $125 just to look at it, but Nobody has these things, even PV.
The foot switch worked ok, except for the distortion, so I hunted down an old Boss OD pedal I had, and used that, and the show went great, but I spent weeks looking for that thing!

I keep misplacing Snark tuners and losing single socks. I think they're eloping.

Not often, but I used to know when and where I bought every piece of gear I own. Now I go into the music room and can't remember where half the guitars and amps came from.
-
Update/upside: Today, while searching for the schematic for my '64 Vibroverb, headed to the amp vet later this week, Mrs. k discovered not only the owner's manual/user guide/schematic to my Vibrochamp; but also my long-lost EHX LPB-1 Powerbooster, its' sibling Muff Fuzz; and also (drum roll) my treasured original Jordan Boss Tone, purchased by me before I even owned or could play a guitar. It's kismet, I tell you!
These things are not lost until you give up looking - just in a special form of long-term storage.

And if you remember, it was Mrs WS who found my long lost tortoise picks after around 40-ish yrs, but unfortunately that ended up being a whole 'nother issue here.

I recently set up for a recording project and discovered I had a new bass drum microphone.
I don’t recall buying it, but it sounds good. Perhaps I should clean up the equipment closet and see what else is in there.
Nice to know I’m in good company.

Yes, usually when I put it in a "safe place" and forget where that place is. A couple years ago, a family member sent me a 78rpm picture disc that was part of my Mom's record collection. I put it in a "safe place". The only thing I can recall about that place is that it was temperature-controlled (i.e. inside the house, instead of in the garage). I have searched EVERY closet and box I can find for well over a year but I *still* don't know where that is.
Oooh, just had an idea about where it might be. Painfully obvious: with my vinyl LP collection... gotta go look...
YESSSSSS! THANK YOU JGO!!!!
It's this exact disc; probably not worth more than $20 as a collectible, but priceless sentimental value for me:

Hoping some good luck rubs off on you now :-)
