Found it -> Micro USB B

I would like download the Fender software mods/apps for my Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb. However of the USB cables I have none fit the USB port. Can someone tell me which type of UBS cable would fit the port just under the power attenurator?
    Thank you in advance.

Micro is the charge cable for most newer phones and other devices. It's not perfect, being small and fragile, but it's almost universal. The newer USB type C interface is far better, but not yet ubiquitous. I have more than a dozen microUSB cables acquired over the years, and most will never be used again..

You can buy cables that convert between sizes.

Or just adapters. I have a bunch from time past, converting mini to micro, micro to mini, micro to C, etc. They're available for very little money, much less than the cost of a Whataburger, and less tasty too.

+1 on this approach - I have an adapter permanently plugged into my TMDR and connect with a type C cable from my pc. This avoids the risky process of plugging and unplugging into notoriously fragile micro USB ports.....

yes usb type C is a good connector ....

    (remember when there were about
    4 different and incompatible sizes/types of mini/micro usb ?)

    universal my arse

An illustrated listing of USB connector types is available at https://www.techdim.com/types-of-usb-connectors/.

    Perfect! Thank you.
I have a kitchen drawer full of them accumulated over the years. Everyone of them are unquie and didn't match the Tonemaster port.

I upload the file. However when I attempt to open the zip file I am getting a error message. "Imagine disc file corrupted".
Also looking at my drives the amp is not showing up as a mass storage device.

Hey Wildcat I have a Tonemaster Twin Reverb and found the same problems trying to get the reverb update.

First, where is this port?....so tiny....finally found it and my son who's work is in the computer world looked and said here it is.
Turns out out it's a micro usb port. No wonder I couldn't find it, never come across one before I didn't know what to look for.

Went out and picked up a cable with a regular usb plug on one end and a micro on the other end...OK Then to download the up dates.Same problem you encountered:

Downloaded file to my laptop but couldn't unzip the file.
A message informed me "Couldn't Mount File" and complete with a red X went on to tell me that "The disc is corrupted".

I put it down to my woeful lack of matters to do with computers.

I hesitated to ask my son to help again, he has a full on job and a wife and four kids.

So I thought I'd maybe put a message up here, you beat me to the punch.

There must be others who have Tonemasters and want to tweak theirs too. [Love my Twin BTW....great sound...manageable weight]

    What to do now?

I can live with the fiddly reverb control but would like to have it sorted out.

It's not all that uncommon to get corrupted downloads, especially for Windows. There should be a md5sum file or something similar to allow comparing it to the computed md5sum of the download. But I'm not sure if that's a thing in Windows. The first thing I would do is download the file again and see if that works. I don't have a Tonemaster, though, nor a Windows computer, so that's the extent of my advice.

    Thanks sgosnell.

Will try download again as suggested.

Not all USB cables are designed for data transfer - some are only good for charging a phone or another device. Those that transfer data will also charge devices. Make sure you check to get the right type when buying.......

Hope you can sort it out. To be honest, I grew up with computers and I had to look for a while before I found the port too. It looks like the Fender designers wanted to hide the digital things as much as they could.

+1 and that tiny button you have to push. Also the tiny red light that tells you when download has occurred.

Since my computer didn't recognize the amp as a mass storage device this makes sense.
    Going to order again.

Yes, I had forgotten that some cables, especially those shipped with many devices, only charge, and have no data wires in them. This is especially the case with microUSB cables. You need one that says it's for data transfer, not just charging. You can sometimes tell the difference from the cable diameter. If it's very thin, then more likely to be just a charge cable. Data transfer cables tend to be thicker. But it's never certain without trying the cable.
