    - Almost anyone can achieve a good jazz tone regardless of the skill level. Conversely, Grant Greene can record playing a Stratocaster mic'ed acoustically. It won't be a great tone but it can still be great music. Joe Pass has recordings in the same vein. So, tone does not equate to musicianship.
    - We jazz musicians wear two hats. One as a jazz listener and appreciater of the art form. The other one is as musicians. When we talk about recordings, we are in the context of the former. In that case it's a discussion about art, not a pissing contest.
    More comedy I see!

    LOL, keep it up.

Well, that's a good route when reasoning with someone fails.

Sure! I’ll play along with your skit! You are the voice of reason (and example provider of good tone) in jazz guitar as opposed to Grant Green!

Comedy Central will be calling at any moment!

The comedy is you thinking you're playing along.

Oh, did you think I was really playing along with your BS Internet façade? I just gave you a chance to substantiate it. We both know why you did not.

    OK, Back to the comedy!

I looked through your posts. You joined about a year ago. You posted a bunch of nasty comments. Can you actually play or are you just a troll? Seriously.

I think Grant Green's tone is great. Bright, a little edge to it, and instantly recognizable.

It's hard to take you seriously. You're looking for a teacher with this attitude? Good luck finding one. No wonder why you're stuck.

I discovered Ray Obiedo’s There Goes That a number of months ago. I find myself coming back to it frequently.

How does he get that sound? A lot of it is touch. A Strat, I think. Maybe a bit of compression? Straight into the board or an ultra clean amp.
