I have a Fralin P-92 in the neck position on my Tele and have been very happy with it from day one. I don't think that you can go wrong with his products.

    Hi all

Thanks again for your input and fantastic advice

    Just a quick update...

I toyed around a fair bit with the pickup height and I have got the Stormy Mondays sounding much closer to how I would like

The main issue, really, was that they needed to be a lot higher than originally anticipated. It seems that the pickups are actually very sensitive to minor adjustments in height

What I will say is that they are excellent pickups, which is exactly what I would expect from BK. The tone is really sweet and complex. There is also no muddiness or boominess and the sound is crystal clear

As Jorgemg1984 points out, they completely nail the Jim Hall sound

What they don't do is 'fat', but neither did the stock pickups

So there is nothing wrong with the pickup, it is just a matter of taste - I think that I want fat.

That said, I am going to stick with them for a while to see how I get on. I can fatten the sound out quite well using the EQ controls on the amp

I really recommend these if you are after that Jim Hall vibe (I also really recommend the Bare Knuckle Manhattan as a fantastic P90)

Thanks again everybody. This forum is wonderful

This is a worthwhile suggestion. Yes, it is a pain to swap out pots in an archtop, but could contribute to fattening up your tone and give you a wider sweep as a bonus.

Glad to hear the OP is getting happier with his set up.

IMO, classic 57's in an ES-175 is pretty much perfection to begin with.

These days I'd rather swap out strings or a bridge than mess around in the guts of my 175.
