I know it looks very nice. But for who already have one... How they sound? I mean compared for example with a Crimson L-5 WewMo?

No idea. I've never touched a Crimson L-5 Wesmo. All I know for sure is that there is a big difference in price.

sounds great. Big, clear tone but can be dialed back easily.

That is about the prettiest burst I've ever seen.

Finally the guitar is with me. Sound is very loud and acoustic archtop style. After a pro setup by a japanese luthier the guitar plays superb, I added to it Seth Lovers and Gotoh Locking Tuners. Frets were leveled and polished. The rod trust works pretty smooth and well. I didnt feel the need of a pickguard since i play fingerstyle.
Amplified sound is very good, and does not feedback too soon.
Considering that i had to cut the top to add the pickup the guitar sound very well, better acousticly than most L-5 Ces and Wesmos (I believe that nowadays Gibsons L-5 has too many bass resonance due to the thicker top ??, which makes them a poor acoustic instrument, but probably is the key to that attack an beautiful amplified sound we all love).
I will try ti make a video review very soon. Fantastic guitarist !

I can't believe you don't have more views on your youtube channel.
Your Washburn sounds quite fantastic in your hands also on your Tangos en Guitatarra Eléctrica.
Were you using an amp or straight into the console for the album ?
    Flatwounds ?

Thanks Mike and Xuoham: in the pocture of the album is the Washburn, butbthe recording was made with my 1970 L-5ces (bridge pickup removed to let the top vibrate more). And it was recorded DI and mixed without going through an amp. Strings are 12's rounds.

That Wu is gorgeous and I really enjoyed your playing.

What was your reasoning for cutting the pickup hole after Mr. Wu finished, rather than have him do it from the outset?

Your stunning playing obliterated the guitar in my mind.

It is absolutely gorgeous looking and sounding.
    What a burst, geee ...

A player of this level with a 1970 L-5ces ordering and liking a Wu says a lot about Mr Wu's artisanal skills and
    Mrs Lora's communication skills.

Thanks for the answers. I thought too that the guitar went straight to the d.i.
Regarding flats, i was wondering because your playing is so clean on your album,
i didn't hear any finger squeak listening with headphones (for example at 1"11 on your album's video) while i
hear some a little bit on the Wu acoustic recording.

Xuoham: i didnt thought of it but the squeaks, i believe, are not heared by the pick up as much as an condenser microphone. Also i did in the mix tame some 3 dbs in 2.4 khz so it can help a little.
About cutting the top by Mr Wu, everybody recommends that electronic work should be made by someome else. I did follow the recomendation.

OK, I think I understand now. I saw the pictures on the previous page without the pickup, and I thought that was after you received it and you had a luthier cut the top to install the pickup.

The issue isn’t about pots and caps. There is no such thing as a high tech pot, wire, or cap. In a prior life, I was an electronics technician in the military and with a police department. You may have pots with heavier durable casings. That’s not needed on a guitar. Besides, all of that is made in China. I’ve seen videos where it was wired backwards or cold solder joints. Perhaps that’s the problem.

Unless tuners dont work and pickups sound bad, you’re wasting money. There are no problems with Wilkerson tuners and pickups. Generally the sound comes from the player and how the amp is dialed.

Campellone Special headstock on an L-5C copy is pretty funny.

Electronics will sound shoddy if the lead wire and ground are connected backwards with a couple of cold solder joints. There are couple of YT videos on this but they are old. Hopefully that problem was long resolved

The end of the story after 7 years:
I went to Japan store Guitar Club and the employee who knew me from before offer me a good deal buying my Mr.Wu as a payment for an L-5 Wes that was NEW but "used price" (someone bought it drunk and regret it and gave it back, things that happen only in japan, sellers ar3 honest enough to let you know that and disccount a few thousand dollars of the price of a guitar that didnt have any single ding).
I am glad that i have my L-5 wes, but Mr.Wu guitar soundee amazingly wellboth acoustically and amplified with Gibson classic 57 pickup.
Things i regret: Mr.Wu was far lighter and comfortable to play (L-5 is heavier and gives me back ache, but its weight and wood thickness is what makes it sound fatter with same string lenght and all specs being equal). The other thing i regret lots: my Mr.Wu was 3/4 nut width and flat radious fingerboard. For fingerpicking was great.
I could easily consider rebuilding or rebuying that guitar again.
