The only thing is that I personally love the tone of the neck pickup being under the 24th fret spot. So you would miss that in the SL. Have you tried a P-Rails?

Sorry, but again I can't really help: I use light 'Pure Nickels' because of my old, weak, ailing hands.

My tone would have to be considered a compromise from what everyone "hears for."

That said, never forget the virtues of a really nice amplifier; two simultaneously if you can!

My Polytone drives the basses & my Super Champ the trebles. I don't go anywhere and I don't carry this freight around.

Keep the faith with single-coils and/or P-90s (they're GREEEAAT!) and best of luck.
