was getting ready to plug in for our first set on Friday and noticed the nut holding the input jack was missing.
must have fallen off last gig, so I had to carefully plug in so the jack wouldn't fall into the guitar.
managed to get it in and taped the cable to the side of the guitar body so it wouldn't work loose.
anyway, long story short does anyone know if they're metric or will a standard US jack nut work?
thanks in advance guys....

Was the Aria that you're referring to manufactured in Japan prior to 1987, or by Samick in North Korea after 1987?
the easy answer to the question will probably come by trying to thread a nut on the jack and see if it fits.
-
no, it's a 70's PE-180 from the Matsumoko plant
-
I wasn't aware of any Samicks ever being made in North Korea.
-
Because they aren't!

I don't think that's a Samick. But it is an interesting pick in Kim's hand.
-
Yeah, but Kim thinks it's a Sammich.

Right hand technique. Yeah it's important to have a good tine sense.

I know greentone, lawson and 2B have this same guitar.
anyone? Bueller?

I've a 1981 Epi that came from Matsumoku. Not sure if it's applicable.
I am actually tearing into it later this week (God willing) and rewiring it. If/when I'll update with what it has in it. The harness is original in it.

I don't know what thread the jack uses-I also am not sure how I'd figure that out.

that I can try to do for you.

My local Ace Hardware has a big cabinet with a zillion tiny little drawers with every kind of screw and nut.
I'd probably bring the guitar and keep trying until I found the right one.

Since I live fairly close to where I work, I went home to measure the Aria. I warn you I am not the best person to rely on for things like this, but here's what I did. I unscrewed the nut on the Aria until it was about a third to a half extended over the end of the jack. I then used the "inside" prongs of my caliper to measure. Like this:
the measurement, taken several times, came out to about 8mm/.314"-varying .1mm up or down, since I couldn't know exactly if I had the diameter right and the tips of the calipers didn't want to stay. I also don't know if I was getting the lands or the grooves. I didn't risk unscrewing the nut further because I didn't want the jack to drop into the guitar body!
I did the L5ces the same way, and that diameter came out to 8.9-9mm.
Assuming I did this right, it looks like the Aria jack nut is somewhat smaller in diameter than the L5ces.
Hope that helps!

I'll wait for greentones response, but that's what I was afraid of
thanks LS

Sold mine, sorry. But I never had a reason to measure the hardware. Best of luck!

Someone replaced the jack with a USA Switchcraft part at some point in the last 35 years or so...sorry I cannot give you an answer, even if my guitar was relevant.

I finally measured my input jack...but I see that I wasn't as careful as Lawson--I ended up measuring the barrel of the jack, rather than the inner diameter of the nut itself:
That measurement is in inches. FWIW, I think the jack is identical to the one on Lawson's guitar. My guitar is the same vintage--to an approximation--as his. The guy I bought it from recalls buying it new in about 1976. Here is a non-pro shot of my guitar:
