If a finely crafted archtop is a Kawasei bench chisel then the hammer equivalent is a Telecaster

I think the pickup would have almost fit without cutting a hole in the top. If the polepiece screws were shorter on the pickup it may have fit within the riser he used.

My thoughts exactly. It would've been a lot easier to clip the screws at the bottom, and it arguably would've produced "better" tone, specially being a neck p'up to start with!
