Enroute, from what I understand from Bob the original owner Toty Viola collaborated with Heritage and George Benson to come up with this lovely twist on the late 60's Gibson ES150TD. I had one of those back in 2001-2004 so have an idea of what I'm getting.
This one now has Lollar Low Wind Humbuckers in it. The cosmetic factor sure puts the Gibson to shame. Ebony fingerboard, screaming wood package, mahogany pick guard and of course Heritage workmanship, not Norlin era Gibson schlock... Fully hollow, no center block. Can't wait.
More photos once I have it (Saturday delivery). And Kudos to Bob for being so easy to work with. Jeez... What is it about these guys from Michigan ?? (that's a compliment).
See if you recognize any familiar faces in the group photo.

Oh yeah, nice! Very nice.
Looking forward to its arrival.

?Here's a few more shots... This all came about because somebody was asking "what was that fat 335 guitar" thread here earlier in the week...

Mikey, is this the one you are getting? With the Lollar Stamped pickups?

By the way, Gibson made some nice guitars in the Norlin era.. Come on now.. Stevie Wonder scraped the bindings on a couple a Guitars.. Jeeze.. Doesn't make the entire era bad.

That pic above is in my backyard!
The action on that guitar is absolutely amazing. I believe the Lollar Low Winds fit it perfectly. The Lollartrons are cool, too.
-
At some point someone should publish a picture book of all Marty's photos.
-
?Sorry to sow any confusion, some of the photos were shot when the guitar first was in Marty's possession and it had Filltertron looking pickups. Now it's definitely got Lollar Low Wind Humbuckers... And yes that is George Benson playing that very same guitar. YOU KNOW Joe how that got me all excited... LOL !!
Also Joe, not trying to trash your guitar inadvertently - had a very nice Super 400 nt from 1969 I was quite fond of.
Here's a photo of my old ES150dc... Weird story with this one, it's 2001, I'm working as a network tech at Fujitsu - a few days before I see the ES150dc and decide I'll bid once and then bid again in the last moments to win it cheap. Well heck who would know the auction ending date, September 11, 2001, would be such a weird day... I had to work (no planes flying - FBI, state police, cops everywhere at the exits for SFO and San Jose airports (part of my commute route).
End of auction comes I put in my bid, it didn't matter, everyone was watching television and I got the ES150dc for $700.00. It had swapped pickups and some other issues. Had Steven Holst build be a custom tailpiece and my trusty tech put in some Duncan Antiquities... Sold it later. I had a big thing for my '81 GB10 that made the ES150dc very low on my play list.

The Lollar stamped pickups are Lollartrons - Lollar's version of a Gretsch Filtertron (I'm looking forward to trying these). The Lollar Low Wind Imperials are the king of humbuckers for jazz guitar - full, open, airy, swirly - Lollar Imperials have it all. Mike's first pic are the Imperials.
Low Wind Imperial
Based on lower output PAFs often found in vintage 335s, this pickup boasts a brighter overall tone compared with the standard Lollar Imperial®. This results in exceptional definition for any chord voicing and overall great presence for cutting through the mix. You'll also find the bottom strings hold together noticeably longer without distorting than most humbuckers. The low wind is ideal for the occasional Les Paul that sounds darker in the neck position, or for guitars with darker tones in general. This pickup is also a good match for amps that are heavy in the mid-range, or if you're seeking a clear and tight bass tone. Made with Alnico 2 magnets in the neck and Alnico 5 magnets in the bridge that are degaussed to specific levels unique to the neck and bridge positions. Covers are nickel silver. Sold as singles or as sets, and comes in a wide range of cover options. Single conductor braided shield lead wire and 4 conductor lead wire is available.
DC: Neck 7.0K, Bridge 7.9K

Beautiful Heritage Mike . I really like the deeper body- I'm sure it has a nice warm woody sound - do enjoy.
-
Sweetheart of a axe Mike. Enjoy my friend. I would never wipe off George's fingerprints if it was mine.
-
Thank You Max Twang for the specs... oooh !!
-
Well done, Mike. I've always dug that big butt 555.
-
Mike, The way Max Twang describes those pickups, they sound like they're the ideal Jazz pickup to me. You should try to find out where you can send that photo and see if Mr. B will sign it for you. Be a nice addition to the music room wall? Congrats,I know you'll love this one!

I never liked stop tails on 335 type Guitars. Always preferred trapeze. Really nice score Mike. I am a sucker for bound f- holes too. If Patrick was still with us he would be trying to get that Heritage from you for sure.
When Heritage and Gibson get it right .....big time wowza factor. Make her sing like a canary Big !
-
The vibe with the fatter body 335 shaped guitars is HUGE!
They don't come any cooler, and the Heritage is breathtaking, IMHO...

?I was outta the gate like Seabisquit this morning, shopping at 8am in the grocery store and fixing up 10 pork chops in mustard gravy for the crock pot, it's raining now but is supposed to really pour later so I wanted a lot of comfort food on hand. Got that done, vacuumed, took out the trash and killed some time on the deck waiting for FedEx who showed up at 11:15 !! DUDE !!!! The driver and helper are regulars here so I always ask them "Coke or Ginger Ale" and they were floored when I showed them the photo of George Benson playing the guitar they just dropped off...
The box was a little cold. So I let it rest in the guest room and couldn't wait too long so opened her up and got her in the office resting some more. Sorry the photos are a bit big so our software rotated them for me (ahem)... She's real sweet. Of course since it's raining and dark all the photos are dark too. She's the bomb. Once it's warmed up I'l bring it up to tension and play her.
Rhodescholar is a joy to work with and had the guitar out the same day we closed the deal. Thanks Bob !!

Big's Pork Chops in Mustard Gravy
Smells mighty fine
10 pork chops, seasoned with lemon pepper and salt, then dusted in flour
Browned in small batches in olive oil, remove to a holding platter
Then 2 sliced onions and 8 oz sliced mushrooms are browned
Then add 2 Tbls coarse mustard and one cup dry white wine and brown with the onions and mushrooms, reduce until dry
Then 2 cans mushroom soup and one packed onion soup
Mix in 1 box of Chicken stock
Add chops back in the gravy
4 hours on low. Make a slurry with 2 Tbls corn starch and water, add. Set crock pot to high and simmer 1 more hour.
Make some fettuccine with butter and parsley (or fusilli) and serve with a little of the gravy napped over it.
Yummy
I have two saved for Bullwinkle
