I'm thinking of getting a new clip-on tuner and thought I'd gather some intel before buying.
It seems like there are new models popping up all the time. I'm curious what you guys like.
I've been using Snarks for several years and I like them a lot. Inexpensive and effective.
Anybody have something they like better than Snarks?

TC Electronics Polytune Clip. Looks the biz and works like a charm. We spend more on replacing strings.
-
I upgraded from snarks to the D'Addario NS Micro Clip-On Tuner - no more weird martian looking thing on my guitar.
-
i bought a couple of joyo JT-11 mirco tuners for next to nothing, and i prefer them over the korg and tc electronic clip-ons i also have. They track my 6th string better onstage, are more compact, better layout.. I was impressed!
-
I have the D'Addario/Planet Waves NS Micro tuner ( Planet Waves ). Very discrete.
-
The NS Micro Tuner is nice but bring another one if you have a gig outside in daylight. On a bright day, they are impossible to read.
-
Umm...I have had no difficulties tuning my guitar with my NS Micro tuner. Maybe the summer days here in Finland are not so bright or my eyes are better than I think they are.

The Peterson StroboClip is outstanding but pricey at $79.
A new StroboClip HD is coming for $59.

Or maybe Planet Waves/D'Addario improved the luminosity since I got mine, which is already a few years ago. I'm sure someone must have told them.

yea snark hz..small footprint..bright readout...good accuracy and has tune by frequency mode for more precise (dare i say, intonation quality) tweakings...
oh... and cheap!
cheers

I used to use clip-on tuners. If I still did, I'd go for the Strobo. However, I cannot abide the way a guitar or bass looks with a clip-on tuner attached. Purely aesthetic, I know, but I'd as soon wear a mullet while I'm at it. I prefer a pedal...but honestly, I find myself not using a tuner.

Polytune clip if I want to be super accurate. SNARK if I just need to be really really close but not super accurate.
ie. Polytune = recording and playing with keyboards AND snark = just practicing/noodling or in trio setting (bass, drums, guitar)

Understand how you feel Greentone. Here's what I do where applicable. I use a D'Addario NS Micro Soundhole Tuner. These are built for regular round soundholes but in certain situations they work with f-hole archtops too. The attached image shows one on my late-40's Harmony archtop. Please keep in mind I'm left-handed so the guitar may appear "upside down" to many of you. The only limit I've found on doing this is size of the f-holes. It works fine on my Harmony, a Loar LH-700, a 1935 Gibson L-7, and Eastman AR371CE; but it doesn't work on my '37 Gibson ES-150 or '35 Gibson L-30 -- the tuner won't fit in the old-style slim f-holes. Also, I scotch tape the battery in to keep it from falling out while installing or removing the tuner. Kind of a tight fit getting a finger in the f-hole to turn on and off the tuner but it's doable and works great; also inserts and removes without marring the guitars.

Snark hz1 is a good one
-
Polytube clip is the best under 50 bucks. Extremely accurate and if it frustratingly accurate there are two modes and one is more broad like what you get with a Snark. Speaking of Snark, I don't like them - the battery life was bad and it just wasn't accurate enough. I don't know what the +/- is on those but it seemed very wide.
-
Had a Snark, which wasn't too good. Much better is my Boss TU-01. Fast, accurate, easy to read, reliable.
-
I had 2 snarks, both broke. The $4 tuner from Reverb is now in every room where I play.
The tuner on the head is the new cigarette stuck under the low E string for the 2000's!

that gretsch and that amp!! so nice..enjoy

no clip on tuner shall ever adorn the headstock of one of my guitars.
there, I said it.
-
Several D'Addario micro tuners around the house. Just because they're so neat and small. Nobody even sees it, attached to the back of the headstock
-
+1 for the Polytune Clip - easy to see and easy to dial in.
-
I just bought a second SNARK H.Z a week ago, because i like them so much. Accurate & discrete @ little cost ....
-
But will it be able to successfully burn one of those desirable brown marks?
