The 175 is my dream guitar. I'm seeing a '97 ES175D locally on sale apparently Mint for 2200$. Is this a good price? If so, How should I go about verifying authenticity etc?

Good price.....go check it out.
-
Yes, good price. If there's nothing wrong with the guitar, I'd pounce on it.
-
Two Questions:
1. Do you live in my neighborhood?
2. Do you have 2 grand I can borrow?

There are a host of sites that ID the fakes. I recently saw one in a pawn shop that was a very good copy, on a par with an Epiphone.
If you're uncomfortable see if the seller will agree to your taking it to a luthier for authentication.
The price is pretty good. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it were genuine.

As my bro's have already stated, RUN don't walk.
Thats a great price. 97 was a great year. The 175 is pretty much the greatest Jazz guitar that kind of coin can buy.
if you buy it, be sure to do a New Guitar Day here for us.

I would look if it has nibs on the frets, absence would be doubtful on a mint closet queen from the '90s.
-
Thanks everyone appreciate the input -- that's quite a resounding recommendation. I'll see if I can get my hands on it. Hopefully it's still available.
-
I saw the pix. It is a flamed Blonde in great condition. For $2200, Sprint like Usain the Human Lightning Bolt, don't run.
-
The guitar in question is the real deal. Can't believe it's still there. If I didn't own a '55 and a '72, I'd be all over it. The seller is stellar also. Hope you snatch it up.

Actually, assuming the seller is legit, this guitar,, in this condition, at this price... call and give the guy your credit card. Lock it down. I can't imagine it will stay available very long.

Any good ES175 at under $2500 is going to sell really fast, I suspect.

I think so. Are we talking local Craigslist?

2B, $2200 for that beautiful Blond 175? Wow.
What happened, did you hit your head or something?
That is really nice of you. Wow.

2bop bought it for $1900. He talked about it. $2200 for it is still a good price. We should all be so smart.

Merry Christmas 2bop!

Yes, and after after a pro setup $75 and a $25 set of TI 13's it was a wash. Paying it forward, and it feels good to move a nice guitar along to a new jazz guitar student who can appreciate it.

Regardless of what 2bornot2bop paid, I appreciate his letting go of such a fine instrument at an affordable price, I know he could have sold it for more, and I'm deeply appreciative. I'm also thankful for all the help this forum and it's members provide. Happy Holidays!

And for those that haven't seen it, it's technically NGD for me, even though at this point it's a guitar that's come through here once. But for those that haven't seen it, these are 2bornot2bop's fine photos of the guitar.
Dropbox - ES175
cheers!
