When I assembled my Warmoth franken tele, I shielded and grounded everything with copper foil tape.
I went against the advice of many and even shielded the pickup cavities at the risk of potential loss of brightness because of capacitor effect.
The guitar is dead silent against any noise; I don't even know how it sounds unshielded but the current sound is great so I don't mind.

I did the same and shielded everything. Don‘t know if it took away something ... sounds like a Tele to me and is very quiet.

I would always shield the pickup cavities with single-coils. That's the place that picks up the most noise. Another noise contributor is the cable. It can pick up a lot of EMF noise, especially 60-cycle noise from power cables both inside the walls and external extension cords. Wireless systems seem to pick up far less noise, at least IME.
