    > What is crazy about them?

Poor word choice on my part.

    AC111 011p - .014p - .019f - .027f - .036f - .050w
    AC112
    .012p - 015p - .024f - .033w - .044w - .059w

Note the difference; the 12s have just one flat wound string (vs 3 on the 11s), and super heavy bottoms (59!). I tried them, and they did not work for me, but I should not speak for others. It does seem odd to me that they would have the same name, and be so dissimilar. Love the 11s.

I never noticed that - thanks for the comparison. My initial intension was to opt for rounds over the flats I'd been using. How "acoustic" are the flats?

Sorry Rob, I corrected my answer, 73 cm from tailpiece to nut.

I've emailed the guitar tech at Thomastik, and will report back anything he says.

I got a response saying the Plectrum strings were never intended for archtops, just steel-strung flattops. But they are developing a new phosphor-bronze string without the silk, which they'll send me for feedback. I'm pleased the guy responded, and I'll try out their new strings when available.

I have the Plectrum 12 - 59 on my Guild F-50 Jumbo, and they are without question the best acoustic strings I have ever used. Due to the construction of the strings the 59 feels more like a 52. T-I also makes a Spectrum acoustic string that goes from 12 - 54 which also have a silk inlay, so if one doesn't like the 59 E string the Spectrum set may be worth a try.

I think they should extend the afterlength at the nut end so that these strings can also be used on an Archtop Guitar (Acoustic or Electric).

The Plectrum String Sets feel almost like Electric Guitar strings because they have Silk between the Core & Wrap wire which makes them easier to press down.

I've had the opposite issue which is putting Thomastik Jazz Swing Strings (mine are JS110 Extra Lights) on a Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (it's a Jasmine S35), & the Lowest String snapped right near the tuner when I was tuning it to pitch because I might not have installed it correctly. I guess these Thomastik Infeld String sets need to include instructions so people can install them properly & also see the Compatible Guitars they can be used on. I did some more research & it turns out that the Thomastik Infeld Jazz Swing Strings are actually designed for a different type of Acoustic/Electric guitar. They're designed specifically for Archtop Guitars because they have a greater length of string between the bridge & the tailpiece.Thomastik "Plectrum" strings are too short-thomastik-flatwound-electric-guitar-strings-jpgIf you look on the left side of the package, there's actually a picture of an Archtop Guitar, which suggests that they're built specifically for Archtop Guitars (both Acoustic & Electric). Hopefully they'll make a version for Flat Top Acoustic Guitars & Solid body Electric Guitars in the future.
