I have to learn to express my passive aggressive nature on electric guitar without being annoying. I've played strats a lot in the past. That's what paid some bills but I'm much more at home on acoustic guitars.
I tried a strat that had noiseless pickups. It was a very interesting sound. A little compressed. For wild rock music a noisy regular strat is hard to beat. I could hear the different in a demo video of the two. The noiseless pickups had a bit of a Gretch quality.
For what I do I wonder if it wouldn't be a better option for me. It's going to be very clean, lot's of mid-range or very distorted for me.
Forget it. I'll stick with this thing for a while. I've been wacking away on a Cordoba with and without a pick for years now so this is going to take some getting used to.

BTW, the bridge on Steve's Strat looks like the classic 6 point bridge with steel saddles. Nothing modern about it at all....[/QUOTE]

I stand corrected.I was perhaps thinking of the advance over the Tele 3-bar bridge (which works remarkably well) and in the pix it doesn't look like the allen screws jut above the saddles the way they did on my first couple of Strats in days of yore, functioning as palm-gougers. It was worth the pain!

The Stratocaster is a great jazz guitar. I have never been without one. Yours looks great.

I like mine with.11-.47 flat wound strings.

Had a Strat land in my house 4 years ago first time, absolutely love everything about it especially the chime with a clean amp. Congratulations, have fun with it!

...oh, and I can go from Strats and Teles to LPs and L5s with ZERO issues as can most of my friends. Sorry Gnappi, I think it is all in your head buddy!
I've been playing guitar for 36 years -- electric, acoustic, six-string, twelve-string, bass guitar, Fenders, Gibbys, copies, wide necks, narrow necks.

I'm a guitarist; I play guitar. Have frets, will travel.

I even put a :-) in the post, in case some miss the netspeak parlance it means to put some levity in the sentence.

But as in many things written true words are spoken in jest like the comment about L5's not being smashed on stage, sorry I farted in church huh? :-)
Looks to me like you're trying to have it both ways; very well. Pretty muddled thinking, but hey.

Anyway, not looking to argue, especially in the middle of a celebration. Steve, hope you're enjoying your new guit.

    Nice axe, Steve!

Here's mine... tremolo blocked with hardwood, springs wrapped in felt, Sperzel locking tuners, and flat 11s. Buttery.

It was my first guitar, and it will likely be my last.

Perhaps you should be asking, "Why start it?"

    Just a thought.

did I arrive late at a strat party?
I love 'em. My Strat isn't really a stock Fender, more custom built partscaster with blocked tremolo & texas specials.

    here's Pinky .. . . Party on !!!

I should add that the artwork was by a close and talented friend of mine (an unsuccessful love interest, for those into overshares). I have a tattoo by the same artist, and no regrets.

Looks like Wide Range Humbuckers to me. But I could be wrong.

They are Rose HB's specifically for Jazzmasters. I forget what he called them though. The rotary knob is a six-way, so there are quite a few tonal ranges to dial up. It's a 12-string, btw if you didn't notice.

Edit: Rose Picasso Alnico II, I believe.

Sweet strat! For me, the whole reason to play guitar is because it's fun...and strats are fun! I have a Jimmie Vaughan strat at the moment. Don't know much about Jimmie Vaughan but it has a comfy neck and the pickups sound strat-y. Those are my main criteria. I didn't dig the "vintage" white...a little too yellow for my taste, so I refinished it in Reranch surf green.

    I bonded.
It didn't take long. I almost never practice with an amp so I relaxed and jammed to a beat. I forgot who much I like these. I'm going to read the comments since I haven't read many.
No one rained on my parade or anything.

Some interesting guitars there, but when i see pictures like this I always think - "Look at all that space for more guitars!"

    Fender Stratocaster-p9280296-jpg
    21 guitars right there.

But to get back on topic, heres my recently acquired chinese made strat copy with scalloped fretboard awaiting a loaded pickguard. (I love the pattern on this fretboard - but i think the scalloping may have been a bit overdone on the lower frets, but then again I wouldn't know, first time I've held one). It's metallic red - pictures not so good.
