"An interesting thing to note is that the MB200 is not just limited to bass. I was recently hired to play keys on a gig, and the MB200 sounded crisp and clear. Out of curiosity, I contacted GK to ask them about the frequency response of the amp, and their answer was 20Hz-20kHz. Interesting! So I did a side-by-side comparison with a PA amplifier and found that if you leave the contour off and cut the bass and treble back, you get nice, flat, full-range amplification. Bass, keyboard, PA... the MB200 works great all around. I ended up buying four of these amps."
Anyone have one and try this??

Thanks Naquat very interesting opinion !
Of it's true solve problem of bandwith and maybe problem of effect like overdrive in input
Do you think this head works well also with cabinet load using headphone for quite practice or direct connection with sound card for quite home recording ?

My experiences with running it direct to my recording interface were very poor. It had lots of noise. When you switch it to the headphone setting, it sounds good but the signal is quite weak. On the other hand, it sounds excellent running my cab at very low volume through the standard configuration. It's not at all like a tube amp where the response changes dramatically as you turn up or down the volume. It just gets louder or quieter.

The point is that the clean and overdriven tones we love from guys as diverse as stevie ray vaughan, clapton, robben ford and allan holdsworth rely on a scoop in the guitar mids and a treble control that works along the lines of fender. No matter what GK says, you cannot get this out of the MB series amps unless you use an eq pedal

Instead should be possible to obtain the sound putting for example the MXR pedal eq 10 bands in front of amp ?

I write to GK and this is the the interesting answer
" There is no speaker emulation. However, most bass signals that are fed direct into recording consoles and live mixers that you hear are not emulating speaker response.
You can use the MB200 and any other amp with no speaker connected.
You can use it for guitar ( I had one on my guitar pedal board at one point ) and it works well. You will want to adjust the EQ to match what you think a guitar should sound like because the EQ is optimized for bass but it is flexible enough to work well. I am aware of bands like Sade, Gap Band and others using the MB200 for guitar and many pedal steel players also. *
It will work well with effects "

Guido, I'm going to make a simple suggestion. Look for a used MB200 in the bass community. They are incredibly common and used they sell for very little money (that's how I got my second one). Try it for a while and see if you like it. If you don't I'm pretty sure that you can sell it to a bass player for about what you paid for it. That way you'll know for sure without having to invest a lot of research that's producing conflicting answers. And if you do that, just be sure to try it both with and without the contour switch engaged because the switch really does give it two distinctly different voices.

Thanks Jim
Yours is very precious suggest so I'll consider it for sure
