Anyway, I actually quite like the sound of electrics through the AER. Even single coils. Sometimes a bit of EQ'ing is necessary....
Right! As a new owner of Aer Alpha, thats what it sounds like to me too. Only I go for the real thing and use Tech 21 with it . I turn the drive knob way up, so I have that breakup. As it turned out, Im not a fan of a Polytone type sound at all, and IMO Aer works with pedals very well.

I was talking about getting a Tech 21 with Mrs Destinytot today (for ethical reasons).

Cool. How do you use the sansamp? Since it is kind of a modeller, the AER serves as a kind of PA in that rig?

I guess so! I set eq flat on Aer, except turning up treble sometimes. So shaping tone mostly from Sansamp. Which is modeller but analog. Important for me. The reverb I use from Aer, and add a bit of slap back delay with modulation from the pedal. So the amp makes my Guild with p90 sound a bit acoustic, but with drive turned up its also tube dirty, so kinda best of both worlds! I dunno how it works, but it does!

Yesterday played little restaurant gig in duo with sax, and the owner commented something like you guys sound like surf jazz, haha.
