    I apologize for my ignorance.

Who is Mr. Wu? I keep seeing his name on the forum, but have no idea who he is. Is he a guitar builder? If so, are his instruments of good quality? Expensive?

    Thanks.

Mr. Wu is a former luthier with Eastman who now runs his own show. Others can tell you more. From what I have seen out here his guitars seem quite good.

He was one of the founding builders at Eastman, I think I have Prototype #5 of their first AR810s, Mr Wu said he remembered building that one. One of the Eastman Reps on their Facebook page remembers going to pick out the plates. It's a dead wringer fora Benedetto Manhattan. Lovely guitar. Subsequent travels include him leaving Eastman and working as probably the star builder at Yunzi (when the original partners that formed Eastman left to go independent). Later Mr. Wu left Yunzhi and now works on his own, with Ms. Lora doing most of the order writing and
interpreting countless details for custom projects. He's the best coming out of China in my book. Let me dig up some photos...

    Oh yes, inlays!

Also of importance, finding any luthier anywhere to build an 18" archtop of 3.75" depth, is not only problematic, it would no doubt be very expensive. Mr. Wu tackled that build request with ease...well, easy for me to say

I'm seriously considering a non-cutaway version of 2B's guitar, maybe with wood binding. Have made contact with Miss Lora.

In my mind, yes! Anyone remember the Vargus renderings in Playboy? What a way to grow up in the 60's! The mag's had articles!?

Wow some of those Wu guitars looks stunning. How do they perform acoustically? Are they voiced to punchy and loud (ie. old Epiphones), or less loud but more sweet sounding (Eastmans come to mind... X Braced Gibsons)... ?

My 18" is X braced. It's loud, and resonant. Still breaking in and opening up. Definitely nothing in common with the 810 and 910 Eastman's I previously owned. Mine nearly has the volume of my arched back jumbo. I've not owned a Gibson acoustic. I'm too shy to take the "vintage" plunge.
