Having viewed the quality of the guitars produced by Yolanda and the wonderful Mr. Wu in this forum, I pulled the trigger earlier this year. I was waffling on the specs when I saw this thread posted by 2b. I basically ordered the same guitar in 17" and with traditional f-holes.
Here are the photos that I have received with more to come when that magical day arrives.

Congrat's! She looks killer. I dig the wood binding, and the look of the traditional f-holes, juxtaposed against the D'Aquisto style tailpiece. Strike up another for the Wu team! Be prepared for it to be an acoustic canon.
What's the rim depth? Photos are deceiving but the guitar appears deeper than a Gibson L5 at 3 3/8"

Awesome, congrats!!!

Very nice appointments there. Getting one of these is very tempting....

When I saw the title of the thread my knee jerk reaction was "oh my, this will interesting (in a not good way). Turns out I was wrong. That is a flat amazingly beautiful piece. Love seeing how these things are put together. I have another project in the works but it's only been a few months since I started the process and Mr. Wu is a very busy man these days. I can see from your photos that he's not wasting his time. I am really very impressed. Surely you will share more reactions once she arrives and you play her some.
Congratulations !!

Thanks guys. The rim depth is supposed to be 3", but I think he made them deeper, which is absolutely fine with me. I'm a very big guy and I'm really thinking of an 18" seven string for my next Mr. Wu project.

That is an amazing-looking guitar. Be sure to let us know how it plays and sounds. Congratulations, amd play it in good health!

The sunburst is really lovely, one of the best I've seen.

For archtops, I don't think you could have picked a better role model than our man, 2b.
Congratulations on having a stunning guitar. Very, very beautiful.
-
Very nice my friend! A thing of beauty to be sure. Bob

If you were gonna rip off anybody's Wu-build, 2bop's is the one.
Lovely. And a unique design....nobody's making 'em that big these days.
-
Gorgeous !!! Beautiful sunburst. Congrats.
-
Beautiful guitar. I hope you enjoy playing it.
I noticed in the in-progress photos that the neck heel was carved to shape after it was glued to the body. Just curious -- is that the way it's usually done? For some reason I had it in mind that the neck and heel are typically fully shaped before being joined to the body.

Great build! Looks like its ready to come your way very soon. I think many of us are following the lead of our forum members who have been describing the process of working with Lora. Thanks to all you guys for putting that out there.
-
Thanks for all of the kind words guys! I will post again as soon as I have it in my hands, which I hope will be in a couple of weeks. I thought that the neck issue was odd as well, but it could have been that he was just doing a dry fitting.
-
That's what I thought also, a dry fitting, notice in the photo the flamed maple heel cap is held in place with scotch tape.
-
This instrument is gorgeous. I hope she sounds as good as she looks.

She is lovely! I do believe Mr. Wu and company are getting the hang of all of the forums' appointment choices. Save perhaps the depths. Very nice bursting and finish coat. Congrats, when's the baby due?
-
It hasn't shipped yet, but I'm hoping to have it in a couple of weeks. It's already been a long wait, so I can handle a little more!
-
When Mr Wu built "Blondie" for me I told Lora I wanted them to let the guitar finish dry a while, like you I had already waited a while and I really wanted this one to be totally right, not rushed. Glad I did. Mr. Wu is really something, his craft has come a very, very long way.
-
I opted for an extra 3 weeks of "drying time" for the lacquer to cure.
This guitar plays like a dream, and despite the weather change she's remaining in tune this time of year longer than others I've owned.
I haven't experienced anything but joy with this Wu. Due to a lack of luthier resources in my immediate area I'm a few weeks from finally hearing her with a pickup...I've been sidetracked with other things of late. I'll post an update when she's been updated.
To those still on the fence...what are you waiting for?

Arrival at JFK today. That is about a five hour drive from my house. Fingers crossed that it won't be more than a week.
