I know that is a loaded question, but it seems that there is something about the body size that feels better than a 339, the neck feels right, and I really like p90's for my jazz sound. I do like my 335-style guitars, and will always have at least one example. Also, recently acquired an Ibanez AF95 in a trade for one of my strat partscasters, and like it as well, and will always have something in that size as well, but...I will sit and play for an hour or so, and find that it is the Wildkat that I don't want to put down.

Truth be told, I am a Strat and Tele guy...been playing all of my jazz on one or the other forever, and because of this forum I have strayed into archtop/hollowbody land. Why am I drawn to my Wildkat? What else is out there similar sized?

If you like it, what difference does it make what else is out there?

You like your Wildkat because they're pretty cool guitars, that's why.

Didn't they make a "jazzkat" at one time? I seem to remember a set in minibucker maybe?

That guitar looks pretty cool. Is there a version without the bigsby?

I really wish someone would make a "proper" version of this style. i.e. built like a 335 with arched top and back and a block down the middle, and one like a 330, i.e. fully hollow, no block. But keep the p90's!!!

Actually it was called the AlleyKat. I had a cherry sunburst one for awhile. Mini hb at the neck and full-side hb at bridge. Not a bad guitar. Been out of production for a few years.

I made a "JazzKat" and gave it to my son:

Wildkats are great. They work great, they're cheap and they're a great mod platform. Play on!

I tried one out in the store. Didn't do much for me. Kind of disappointed.

Disappointed how? Not as nice as the regular one, or are they just not built as well?

Nothing like that. I'd never played one before. The guitar as a whole just didn't really do it for me. I was disappointed because I really wanted to like it. A good $300 guitar is a rarity.

The might well be really good ones out there, but the one I tried had an impossibly high action and awful pickups. Such a pity.

Well, action can be fixed. Pickups can be replaced, but that sort of defeats the purpose of a $300 guitar.
