Is it me or does this Collings acoustic guitar sound more like an archtop? What's going on here?

The one(s?) Kreisberg plays on a couple of his records sounds quite similar to an archtop.
-
Call me inexperienced but I've never heard (on video at least) an acoustic guitar sound like an "almost" electrified archtop like this.

Also, the high strings sound quite mellow for a flat top. Interesting guitar.
By the way, I am using those Throbak bronze strings on my '35 Gibson L-75 (round hole archtop) and am really pleased with the sound and feel.

I'm going to purchase some Throbaks for my acoustic guitar. One day, I'll buy one of these small bodied guitars. Seriously. The sound isn't like a "regular" acoustic guitar sound.

honestly, there's nothing unusual about a hex core phosphor/bronze string...all the string makers make'm ie d'addario, martin, ernie ball etc etc
the throbak round core pb's are more unusual...cause of the old style round core
those small body guitars can sound like archtops...very focused tone..not deep body bass or super extended highs...that's why the fingerpickers and old time blues guys liked them..very direct tone that doesnt take up a lot of space in the soundscape
cheers

....they can sound like archtops, but they just can't play like them......

If your flat top can't play as good as your archtop, you need a better set up guy.
