Back when I listened to Rich Severson's clips on Youtube with the Quilter, I thought they sounded just fine, there are of course many other possible jazz tones, and many other possible takes on jazz than Mr Severson's, but what's wrong with those particular tones, what makes them not "jazz" enough?

Indeed, this is the Bandit I have, which is a transtube:

Nothing, i just didn't care for that tone. Sounded "middy" and thick to me. I like a little bit more benson in my tone and that quilter can't seem to capture that vibe. I also like less mids and the quilter has very thick mids. Obviously, it's subjective and I'm tempted to try the new MP series. I could get it on amazon with a 30 day return policy...

It's not that one, either. This Bandit was made in the Dark Ages, when PV was still a four-letter word.

I only use my PV Transtube 112 EFX on gigs that require rock.

Hey Jack, I moved from Guild over to Quilter. As you might remember, I've been gigging with their Tone Block and Ethos Clean for a few years now with what I feel are great results. Since moving over here and doing the shoot out with everything I picked up the new Mach 2 12" HD and have been loving it. I'll try and get you a clip tonight with my Heritage. The HD speakers sounds like an old EV to me. It's very even and certainly less mid focused than the other speakers they use.

That's what happened with me on the original quilter aviator and I tried different speakers, cabs, etc, but in the end the treble control and other tone controls were just not placed properly.

No that add is right, it's just a different model. There are two 12" versions: that one with the Lead 80 and the "HD" version with the BN12-300s. Here's a link to one on Amazon with the speaker I'm referring to.

You know you're asking Jack to go with 1) a Quilter and 2) a neo speaker? If I'm not mistaken Jack liking either a Quilter or a neo speaker is the first sign of the apocalypse, if he likes both ...

Peter, do the tone controls work more guitaristically than the original aviator I had a while back?

and who carries this amp? The link you sent is from a dealer who's feedback is pretty poor on amazon. Since I'm buying sight unseen, I would want a 24hr eval period on it...

I'd be interested to hear how your AxeFX/AX8 sounds going into the Line In on the MicroPro 2 (I've been thinking about getting an AX8 to try with my MicroPro 2). There's no HF driver, but some people use their AxeFx w/ IRs into an an EV-12L with good results. The Quilter and an AX8 could be a killer rig.

I think they do. They work for me for sure. Just pm'ed you about finding a local dealer.

Hey Jack, I deleted the recording after listening to it on my speakers at work. It sounds totally different than it did on my monitors at home, and not in a good way. I'll try to get a more accurate recording and send it to you in a PM.
