I had the opportunity to see Pat Martino at the Blue Note NY in July 2014.
Apparently he was using an Acoustic Image Focus amplifier with two Mesa Boogie Rectifier 2x12 cabinets.
Also he used his Benedetto signature model guitar.

I read a magazine interview once where Pat said he brings his amp but requests a cab(s) for the gigs, usually with Celestion speakers. He didn't say which speaker model in the interview though. I was a bit surprised to read he uses Celestions. Judging from the cab's I've seen him use I would say prolly Vintage 30's, G12-75, or CL 80's, probably. Assuming the cab's have the original speakers.

I have seen him use Mesa cabs on a gig which probably were loaded with 90 watt Mesa speakers made in China by Celestion. These are very mid range focused.

Celestions just happen to be used in many rock oriented amps like Marshall etc, but they are greatsounding speakers and range in tone. I'm not sure there such a thing as a rock speaker. I've used them in the past and they can sound nice ad clean with a tight bottom. They are more in the midrange side and I like more flat sounding speakers. I like EV.

Oh my, that's beautiful. Funny, except for the big archtops, Pat's guitars have almost always been 2-pickup models. I wonder if he ever uses the bridge pickup.

The really crazy thing is that I only recently "discovered" Pat Martino. I think I had him confused with someone else and had no idea what an absolute MONSTER he is. If you haven't seen his new TrueFire course, it is amazing.

I really want to see him live, but the closest that he's coming to my area is New York, which about a four hour drive. Probably worth it though.

It is absolutely worth it. Get a room and enjoy the city the next morning.

That's probably at Pat's home. They visited him with the unfinished guitar to really customize everything to his liking ....
