Can't get over that cutaway shape - neither on the ES 175 nor on the ES 295. Even some Gibsons have that overly long horn....

I agree in many cases, most do not agree or it would be available in every git model. The Bigsby OTOH is the deal breaker.

The ES175 premium also comes with a pinned bridge. I think Gibson, or some big dealers like GC, got tired of returns because rockstar wannabes couldn't get the bridge back in the right place after changing strings. The two little holes help them get the intonation back easily, and don't really affect the tone.

    The Bigsby ... ugh.

They're not worried about jazz purists, they're out to sell guitars, so they equiip them with what sells to the masses. I don't want a Bigsby either, but I'm far from the intended market. I actually have a Bigsby in a closet somewhere. I took it off the Old Kraftsman I inherited from my father. It came with it, and AFAIK he never used it. I don't think I ever heard him use it at all. But getting a replacement tailpiece, then and there, was more expense than he could afford if it were even possible. I have the spring in a Boss EQ pedal, because it didn't have one when I got it used. I don't use either much anymore, but if I ever acquire a cheap thinline I might drag it out, just for old times' sake.

Another price drop on the ES-295, now down to $629 USD. Someone buy it so that I don't!

Called GC and tried to get them to bite on using their current discount code of 20% on top of that. Almost got them to, but didn't happen.

A buddy of mine bought one of these a few years ago, went to town upgrading it- a set of killer P90 pickups/ covers, all the plastic parts but the biggest change was installing a traditional 295 bridge/ tailpiece. Man that made all of the difference from an appearance standpoint, may have a pic, if I can find it I'll post.

A B7 allows you to yank on the trem like a freshly released loonie from the rubber room. Just push the git horizontal and let it rip up and down like a Yo-Yo :-)
